Kids' Summer Party
A couple months ago, my daughters and I were talking about them never having a pinata at their birthdays. Since their birthdays are in the fall and winter (much colder weather) we've never hung a pinata from a tree and had that as one of the games.
I kind of felt bad that they've never had a summer birthday party, so I suggested having a "Summer Party" for them and two friends each. They've been SO, SO excited ever since...talking almost every day about games they'd like to play and different things they want to do and making TONS of invitations.
Summer is nearing and now I need ideas or suggestions as to keep this organized, simple and fun. Who else should I go to but my frugal friends from FV?
These are some of their ideas...a Skittles game (that DD1 learned at a birthday party), pinata with candy (gotta start finding candy on sale in stores to fill it), bubbles (they want me to blow and they pop them), slip and slide outdoor water game (that we own already), water balloons, whipped cream splatting game and fill all their mouths with lots of whipped cream.
Any ideas how to plan this or add to the fun? The more ideas to make it easy for me to plan the better! Thanks in advance!!If you will live like no one else, later you can live like no one else.

I also need ideas and/or recipes on food. I was thinking of having the party from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Whatever I serve I want to be yummy, fairly nutritious (excluding the dessert) and kid-friendly.

How about letting them decorate their own cupcakes or make strawberry shortcakes?

We used to do a "clash of the holidays" party, just before school restarted. . . we'd start with New Year's toast of sparkling grape juice, head right into Valentine's day, hit most of the major holidays throughout the day (sparklers for July 4th, silly costumes for Halloween, etc.) and end the evening with Christmas carols, small gifts all around and cookies!
