Talking What was your first job?

My first job was working as a cashier at a grocery store at age 17. I loved it. I worked mostly the express lane. I am not sure if I loved it because I didn't "have" to work to support myself at the time, or if I truly enjoyed the job.

I worked in a place called Computax when I was 14. I used to collate tax forms and then later on did data entry for them. I used to love it because it was only from 3-6 (due to labor laws), and a lot of my friends worked there too.

when I was 13 I got my first babysitting job, if that counts. It felt good, because I was "in charge" I didn't have anyone telling me what to do. I had alot of responsibility, and it made me have more self-esteem.

My first job that entailed a real pay check was at a place called Bell's Deli. It was in an upscale neighborhood outside the Broadmoor Hotel. Lots of olympic skaters train at the Broadmoor World Arena and they used to come in every morning before practice and get muffins. Alas, I did not go to work until after school. I never saw any of them.

Forgot to say. I was 16.

I first started babysitting for some of the neighbors' kids when I was 10. Having my mom next door or a few houses away helped out on more than one occasion.
In high school I "walked beans" for some of the area farmers. For those of you who aren't familiar with that, it's basically walking through the bean fields and pulling all the weeds. That was not fun. No wonder I don't have a garden now. LOL
My first real job was when I was 19 and worked at a fast-food restaurant.

Great topic! I love reading these and learning about everyone.

My first job started at around age 9. I stole it from my brother, sorta. I used to help an elderly lady that couldn't get around anymore by doing her grocery shopping after school everyday.

My first job was at 15 working for my boyfriend's (now DH) family business. My MIL paid me $2.00 an hour. I thought I was rich. When I started driving, this paid my gas money. I worked for my in-laws up until a couple of years ago. Most of my working life I had 2 jobs. (In-laws were cheap! )

My sister and I had the corner on the babysitting market in our neighborhood, since we were the only teenagers there! I was about eleven or twelve. My first "real world" job was at the library at fifteen. Can you believe it? I STILL work at a library! All that college down the drain... NOT!

    Talking Beat This! ;-)

I had my first job when I was 14. I worked at the rectory for the Catholic parish my family belonged to. After school I would go there and answer the phone and the door, take messages, and clean up the dinner dishes. They had a cook that fixed dinner, so I didn't have to do that part. Basically, got paid to watch TV and do my homework. It was a great job, though it could get boring. And the pay wasn't the best -- $0.75 per hour during the week and $1.00 per hour on the weekends.

Well, my first "job" would have been helping out on the family farm. That was unpaid work of course. My first PAID work was babysitting. Oh yeah, and the very first time, can't remember how old I was, maybe 13, I was watching four kids ranging from 6 months to 9. Rural area, no other houses around and someone comes pounding on the door wanting in cause their car broke down. I DON'T THINK SO. Go to the next house, 1/4 a mile away! LOL.

My first "regular" job was working in my high school cafeteria my sophomore year of high school....so age 15 I guess. I rang up lunch orders, helped with some of the cooking too, but mainly rang up what folks were buying (ala carte style). The register was this SUPER antique one....probably weighed 200 pounds. Had about a zillion buttons you had to mash down REALLY hard. My pay for working through lunch each day? $1 credit each day in the lunchroom. Yup, you got it. I just got a free lunch out of it, ha ha. They had an 8th grade boy handling milk sales out the milk window, he got the same pay. The other advantage was we got to skip enforced "recess" in order to eat our lunches. THat was rather important since recess outdoors was required for 1/2 hour even when below zero outside....

My first job was at our local drive-in theater. I had to pick up the trash the next day after the movie. Also had to clean the bathrooms and concession stand and change the marquee. I was 15 and loved every minute of it!!!

My first real job was when I was 14 I worked in housekeeping in the college dorms during the summer.
It was hard work but I really put everything I had into it..the boss wasn't too nice..but we did get paid for a whole hour each morning just to sit and have worship every morning! That was pretty nice.
