Do you own a DVD player?
I had been thinking about a DVD player for a few months, but had not gotten to the point of deciding it was worth the money. Right before Christmas I got a call from Mom who had bought a DVD player for my nephew as a present, then she found out that he was getting one from another source and was stuck with it (she lost the receipts).
I offered to buy it from her so she could purchase something else for my nephew.
I turned from a "maybe I would Like that" to a DVD addict
Do you have a DVD?
Do you see one in your future?

We own one and use it about as much as the vcr.
I like having the extras on dvd movies.

We got one for Christmas and I love it. You want to know what I like best about it? It is not the better picture/sound quality. It is not the special features and never before seen footage on the dvds. It is the fact that if dd wants to rewatch a movie I don't have to wait for it to rewind. I just push play again.
I'm real impatient when it comes to video rewinding. lol

I bought one for Dh two Christmases back, when they were new and over priced. He loves it. He loves all the behind the scenes stuff and will watch beginning to end. Problem was that my already overpriced gift lead to "We need a new t.v.," then "We need surround sound" then the vcr went, "but we still have the kid videos" so we bought a new vcr. So what started out as a $300 holiday gift turned into $1500 worth of new equipment taking up half my living room--there are six speakers tucked behind my couch, in the corner unit, on stands next to the unit. I created a monster.

my brother has had a dvd player for over a year, at first i didn't think it was much more than a vcr. I was so wrong. we bought one for christmas and we use it all the time. Almost more than the vcr now. there are so many more things that can be done with it. So really i suggest that anyone even considering it look into it if you like movies you will just adore the dvd player.

Nah..don't have one, don't want one.
VCR's are good enough here.
I could care less about the difference in picture quality. I well remember watching only on black and white tv's when I was growing up. Heck, even in college I had only a black and white tv. I remember watching hours of tv with snowy pictures and enjoying even that. So, I guess the slight difference in picture clarity between a vcr and dvd means nothing to me. The pictures on vcr's are plenty clear for me.
Probably a good idea to add that if it were my choice, the tv would be on less than four hours a WEEK, maybe not more than half that....
(I remember watching film strips at school...it was a BIG deal for the school to rent an old disney film strip for all the grades to come together and watch a time or two a year. Since this was before vcr's and where I went to school most folks NEVER went to the movies, that was a big treat!)
