What foods will you not order while dining out?
I will not order tuna fish or meatloaf out. I am very apprehensive on anything with mayo too.
What things do you not order when dining out?

I'll order tuna, like tuna steak, but not the canned kind, won't order meatloaf because I don't like it. I won't order sushi unless I see it prepared right in front of me, I don't order chili or anything that has too many unidentifiable chunks in it-stews etc. and I won't order anything that raw onions can hide in--potato salad etc. due to an allergy and most places don't make their own so they really don't know what's in it. I'm not a fan of beef so I rarely order any kind, Oh my, I sound like a dining nightmare, but really I'm not.

oh-I also forgot my No messy, on the bone, finger food rule--no fried chicken, bbq ribs etc in public--that stuff I'll do at home only. You can't look like a lady with a chicken leg hanging from your face

I was having a bad day last week and hubby took me to Damons for ribs. *LOL*
The waiter forgot extra napkins. UGH
Their ribs are so good though that you can just slide the meat off and eat it with a fork. Although, we only go there about once a year. (except when I was pregnant) <------ In fact hubby asked if I was craving ribs for any particular reason. *LOL*
I don't think I could swing fried chicken, but hey I have done chicken fingers. hehe
I can be a dining nightmare! I like salad dressing separate and something hot to drink and something cold. I don't enjoy many condiments either. *LOL*

Hmm, I have never thought about it. I do try to order something that I don't have all of the time at home. Kinda why I go out in the first place, so I can have something different.

I agree with CountryMom. I always get things that I can't/don't make at home. I think it's silly to get spaghetti at a restaurant when it costs so little to make at home.
I also won't get things that aren't specialties of the restaurant. For example, I won't get fish at a steak house or "American food" at a Chinese food restaurant.

I agree with Chelle. It just seems "wrong" to get steak at Red Lobster.

Watching out for ethnic food
My rule of thumb is not to order ethnic food in a restaurant that does primarily American food. You usually end up with a sweet chili on your taco salad or nachos, or a tomato sauce instead of good hot sauce. Most American restaurants can do Italian....but rarely can they get Mexican or Chinese right.

Don't eat out much at all. My husband brought home fish and shrimp from a local sea food places tonight... great food.
I don't order items that are potentially spicy.... even slightly spciy is too much for me.
I order water... do not like fountain soft drinks.
I avoid mayonaise based sauces

We almost NEVER eat out. About th eonly time we do is when my grandfather visits for a couple weeks each year--he has a couple favorite restaurants here and always takes us out three or four times. Mmmmm. All you can eat and the biggest buffets I ever have seen, lol
I concentrate on the things I like MOST there. I like their gravy so I have mashed taters and gravy (though I can make it at home I do like it there too). THey have really good yams (yeah, I can make them, but they do a great job). They have all you can eat steak and it's GOOD so I have that, roast beef is good when they have it so some of that topped with gravy. I usually add some corn to round out the meal some and have some veggies with it other than taters.
Cheesecake. Several pieces before we go, espeically if it's the marbled kind with cherries throughout it. Mmmm.....
Every couple of years we'll go to Cracker Barrel. I like their BLT's and their Chicken n Dumpings--yes, I make both at home too, but like them there as well.

Do you remember at the begining of when Harry Met Sally? Sally was in the diner and she ordered the food? Thats me. I want everything on the side, because they may do it wrong.
But the one thing I refuse to order from any resturant is asparagus and broccoli. Nine times out of 10 it is usually boiled. Uck. I prefer it steamed.
You know, come to think of it, I'm amazed my DH takes me out to eat at all.

I don't order beverages
I don't order beverages and ask for water instead. My wife and I have noticed how much the soft drinks and other beverages add to our total check (and it's mucho). For the price of skipping just two sodas we can buy a case of soda's at walmart.

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.
