I wish you guys well as you go through the day and get this taken care of.
I hope the situation with the shortages turns around soon for you guys in Canada. Is the pay low? Or do they ask too much of the doctors & nurses that nobody wants to train to be one? Thanks for your expanation on how your system works Lucie , makes me so thankful for the health care system here.
Bet he'll be all padded up next time he's on his board.

Thank-you Dralene and Jeana.
Aparently, what I can see from the media, is that drs. feel they are not paid well enough compare to drs. in the USA and they have limits by the goverment on how many people they can operate or do certain procedures. I don't know all the details of the drs. problems, but it's a fight against the goverment...If you don't have a family dr in my area, there are waiting lists until a year or two to be seen by a dr. by apointement. Many don't take new patients. So, in that case, people with no family dr have to consult through the emergency clinic, so you wait a couple of hours...
As for the nurses, a few years ago, the governement encouraged ALOT of nurses to retire earlier and now we really have a shortage of nurses and they are overloaded with patients or are almost obliged to accept to do to overtime, double shifts, etc...It's crazy for nurses. Many go through major burn-outs. I know of one friend nurse in burn-out, right now...and she is the one who explained to me how bad it was.
The positive thing about our health care system, is that we don't pay. But we wait. Before it was so much better...And there are many who abuse the system and are at the drs. too much, for a bad cough, some fever, etc...
Anyhow...that how it is...
