Expensive Purses?
Do you carry an expensive purse that you keep forever, or a cheapie one that you replace whenever you get bored?
I carry a Dooney and Burke. It is my fourth one. Each has lasted me about 3 years. The old ones are still in good shape, I was just ready for a change. The best thing about Dooneys is that you can send them in to be refurbished and if any thing happens to it the will repair it for you.
My mother used to get a new purse with each new season. That always seemed unnecessary to me.

I buy a new purse every 3 or 4 years. I only own one--black, and I use it year round. Someday I will get a white or off-white one for the summer. I ask for one for my birthday every year, but my dh has yet to buy one for me.
I have a Liz Claiborne, so mid-price range. I found that the cheapies fall apart too quickly, and since I keep mine for 3 or 4 yrs, it averages out to spending the same amount on a cheapie every year.

I used to carry Gucci and Vatton bags, loved them but as I got older I found they really didn't match everything. Liz C. didn't hold up well enough, I am very hard on bags. Coach is wonderful and yummy soft and makes the perfect shade of camel that no one on the planet can match, but $250 a bag is no longer my style. Now I have just about everything Agnier-shoes, bags, briefcase, etc. It is very good quality and there is a company store that is close. Some of their bags I have had for 10 years and the classic style and colors are timeless--I really try to avoid the trendy colors/styles. The shoes that match are so comfortable-I'm not able to wear heals and need something nice for work and I find their flats are comfortable but professional. My mom and sister swear by them also. Shoes and bags are a thing with all three of us--it's genetic.

I just stuff everything in my pockets. lol I actually have a checkbook wallet thingy that holds my money, ID, etc. The last time we went to the movies I had to search all over the house to find my purse so I could smuggle candy in. Shhhh

My purse is a cheapie one. I usually get a beige one. My criteria when buying one is large enough to do the job, with pockets with zippers for the odd stuff

I have two Dooneys and one Stone Mountain, one Liz. I have several others that I have picked up here and there. I keep them forever but because I get bored with a purse fast I can change out with one of the others and it satisfies me.

Lately, I've been buying more expensive ones. Everyone I get at Wal Mart gets totally destroyed. I bought one there that actually lasted a couple years. The one I bought to replace that one lasted about 2 months- the lining got shredded.
So after that, I bought a nice Stone Mountain one at a leather shop. I love it- it has a canvas-like lining. The lady told me to just hang on to the receipt, and they will do any necessary repairs to it if need be. I think I spent about $50. for it. It's on vacation for now, since I'd lose everything in it. It's too clunky for just running to go to the store for some milk.
Then the other one I use is small, it's more like a wallet on a strap. It's made by Rosetti. One section is for credit cards/checkbook, the other is for money, cosmetics. It also has a cell phone holder on the outside that my phone actually fits into!!! I paid $16.00 for it on clearance at Filenes.
I like to keep a couple on hand- a small one for everyday running around, and my big one if I need to carry my brush, makeup bag and larger items of that sort.

I spend almost nothing on purses. Actually I'm not fond of carrying them. For a long time I carried only a little card holder attached to my wallet...and when needed, the checkbook in my back pocket. Now though, I do carry a purse again (needed a way to carry the cell phone).
I paid $1.50 for it at Goodwill and expect it to last at least two or three years. Just an inexpensive Faded Glory purse.
I do have several backpacks--all purchased at thrift shops, like new. I carry those on longer outings--zoo, day/overnight trips, vacations, etc
