What are you doing with your tax refund?
We got our tax refund back and paid off a credit card and then had some fun shopping.
Not the best option for the money, but it sure felt great to just shop for some things that we wouldn't otherwise be buying.
We got our first set of livingroom furniture. I was actually getting weepy in the furniture store. For anyone that knows us, we had a rough start financially and this is a BIG deal to me.
If you are getting a refund or have already, what are you planning on doing with it?

We splurged big as we were moving into the new house. I hated the bed we had and did not even want to bring it here, you can read that as flat out refused. We found one of those new swedish foam mattresses on sale, then we negotiated for the floor model, a kid had spilled some juice on it, so they took almost $500 off--it was still $1400. But it is worth every penny. So I figure that was a big part of our tax return and the check, it will repay our savings. Left-over will help pay for our housewarming party.

Sara,
Congrats on the new living room set.
With our return we will either be putting towards an apartment or into savings so that we can move out of my sister's house sooner.

Congradulations on the new furniture. As for us last year we spent it on remodeling the kitchen. This year we have to buckle down and pay off some cc's, dh retires from the Air Force in 6 years and I want to be debt free except for our mortgage. Anyway seeing how we will live on this strict budget for 2 long years, we are going to use some of it to insulate the house and the other part to buy us some new clothes. It is awful to admit I budget for the dks school clothes but not for our clothes because it is a sacrifice we find willing to make to get out of debt faster. This year we are in desperate need of jeans, socks and undies
for both me and dh and there is no other way around it without redoing the budget and I refuse to redo the budget I WANT OUT OF DEBT BAD

We are putting ours into our savings account and will use it for home improvements this year. We also have some maitnence repairs to make on our summer place as well. I know that eventually we will need to buy some new appliances here. These are getting pretty old. The stove/oven is 25 years old, as well as the fridge. So maybe we will have to get new appliances too

Well, I had hoped we would be taking a vacation over spring break. However, I got the bill for someone's credit card today, and someone has been a very bad boy.
So, I will be paying that off instead.
At least the timing is good. This way at least I won't have to come up with it out of the budget.
Maybe there will be enough money left for one of us to take a vacation. HHMM I wonder which one of us should go?

But i have managed to put alittle into a christmas club so that i can have a little extra next year and won't be so worried about getting all the things i need. as for a vacation for 1, great idea you could have a great time getting away.

We are going to put ours into savings to go toward buying a new house. We have been looking to buy in the mountains for over 3 years and if we ever find "just the right spot", we are jumping on it. We are holding out till we find our dream home, or at least something we can turn into a dream home, coz we don't ever want to have to move again!

We are using a few hundred dollars of ours to tie up some loose ends as I call them. Our van needs one more tire in order to have a complete set of new ones. I need another couple boxes of contact lenses, down to my last 3 pair. Our Van needs to be relicensed and inspected.
The rest is going into savings for our next house.

what 'ya gonna do with your tax refund?
We will be paying off our credit card, my husband is finally going to get his cement mixer ( so he can build his shed out back ), what's left will go in savings and what I call our vacation fund. We hope to go away to the beach in Gulf Shores,Alabama for a few days this summer, they also have a big water park. This is not too far from where we live (south Mississippi) just far enough away to be a nice break!
