I'll be switching for dial up internet soon.*not yet, afterall*
Yes...*sigh* we are switching to dial up internet. We have had high speed for the last two years, but now we have to cut expenses...high speed costs us 50$ a month!
With Pierre not working, we will probably go on a limitted plan of 25 hours a month for $9.95 a month...soooo I will have to carefully plan my time on internet. You can be sure, Frugal village will be the only place I'll go!
Who uses dial up? or high speed?

I use dial up. I would prefer high speed, but oh well wishful thinking.
Debbie, have you checked into WalMart's dialup? It is 9.95 for unlimted use per month. WalMart is like AOL.
Also there is Netzero that is 9.95, but I am not sure if it is unlimited or not.~*Michelle*~

Lucie, were on dial-up. We were on DSL when we lived in the city and to be quite frank, our dial-up is faster than DSL was in the city. We never get disconnected and can always get on when I want too. I really like our dial-up.
Were on Sympatico through our phone service. It costs $19.95 a month (unlimited) but because we have a phone plan through MTS, we get $2.00 off it for $17.95 a month.
Twenty-five hours isn't very much, especially if anyone else uses the internet. You'd have to really watch those hours as well, because anything over 25 would be a killer.
Is there anyway you can pay a tad bit more for more hours, and cut back in your groceries or another area. I always found when we needed to cut back, I could do it in the grocery area. Its amazing how much one can cut back there.
Good luck in whatever you do.

We had good experience with NetZero. If you can, I would try something with unlimited time. The limits are really rough. When we first moved in, we had one with a limit of 10hrs a month
I went over that before I even realized, and then couldn't access for the rest of the month

Here is the details on netzero's 9.95 plan:
NetZero Platinum Internet service offers a value-priced high-quality Internet connection for -- less than half the price of other Internet Services Providers such as AOL, EarthLink and MSN**, only $9.95 per month*. This easy-to-use service will download in as little as 2 minutes and provides the best of what the Internet has to offer, including POP and web-based e-mail, direct access to anywhere you want to go on the World Wide Web, reliable Internet connections, compatibility with popular instant messaging programs offered on AOL, Earth Link, MSN and Yahoo , and features such as easy access to search engines, news and sports headlines, shopping, and financial services with no banner ads. This Internet service is also available to Mac users.
No credit card required.
I would check into other options before I choose a plan with only 25 hours a month like the one you are thinking of.~*Michelle*~

Mmmm...thanks everyone for your sugestions. I never knew Walmart had interent services...I'll check at our Walmart. That sounds like a good price, Michelle. NetZero Platinum Internet service also sounds good. I imagine the price is US money, though...
Pierre found at webmestre Avantages.net / Smartnet.ca that we could have illimited for $16.62 a month, if we take a yearly plan with them, or else it would be $19.95/month...
I guess we could cut a little something else to have unlimitted...25 hours is not even an hour a day...and Pierre also likes to go on internet sometimes. The children usually play games with their cds, but I, for sure, go more than 25 hours, so I would really have to be careful...that would be tough for me...
I'll tell you which one we chose as soon as we decide. Thanks everyone!

I think NetZero is in Canada too. By looking at the link the show an extra 2.xx for Canada.
You may see if it is available in your area by putting in your phone number.~*Michelle*~
