Hurray for my aunt!
She is finally learning how to use a computer! My mom is 9 years older than my aunt-- but my aunt was always saying how she was "too old" to learn those new things. My mom called her on the phone yesterday and discovered that my aunt's grandson had given her is old computer. Mom talked her through getting it set up, and got her online with MSN messenger.
They 've been chatting and sending pictures and mom even had my aunt watching her web cam of the farm. Mom sounds so excited and she said my aunt was like a little kid at Christmas. Two ladies in their 60-70's rediscovering their family ties and having a ball this Sunday afternoon!

That is really great Sunshine, you're never too old to learn something new!

This is the proof that one is never to old to venture out and discover new things. Hmmm am I imagining new members in the village?

That's great! Whole big world out there.

Sure wish we could talk my MIL into using the 'puter, she's afraid she'll ruin something of my FILs.
As she's getting older her handwriting is starting to go and she's always been a big letter writer, e-mail would be such a good thing for her to use instead. She's pretty set in her ways so I don't think she'll ever go for it.

I can't tell you how many senior's I've trained to use the computer. I've had several people in our area ask me to please give classes. I'm still thinking about that.
Most seniors are too intimadated by the computer.

My mom is a computer guru--- she learned computers back in the day when they were so big they filled a room and used key punch cards for programming (she still has some of those cards) She learned COBAL and FORTRAN programming then. . . . then came the PC's and she learned BASIC prorgramming and DOS, then later she's learns HTML and some JAVA.
She was instrumental in getting our tiny little school district to implement computers in the classroom, WAY before even the big city schools in Chicago had them. . . . .
But her sister has always been a bit afraid of technology. I'm just so pleased that they are connecting again. . . . way too much time wasted, where they don't communicate at all. This is so easy and fast for both of them.
