Can anyone tell me more about Newport News, Virginia?

Dh has received a job offer with a company just outside of NN. If the compensation package can be worked out, it looks like this is where we are headed. We are leaving a small town in Tennessee, and I would like to get some info on this area. I find personal opinions to be helpful, so if anyone has any info, I would love to hear from you!

I live in Norfolk which is just past the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel. I don't know much about the pennisula (Newport News, Hampton, etc.) But there is so much to do in this area. You have Williamsburg which is only about 20 minutes from NN and it's beautiful. You also have all the beaches in this area too.

Let me know if you want to know about any stores, restaurants, beaches, "secrets of the area", etc. I'll be more than happy to help you out.

funny you should ask about NN, va. I live there! as with any city, there are good things and bad things about it. if there is a particular area you want to know about let me know, and i'll see what info i can get for you. most of the schools are pretty good. there is lots to do in the area, and the southside isn't far away. traffic stinks from time to time, but i just aviod the highway as much as i can and then it's not too bad. there are parks all over the place, plenty of places to shop, go out to eat. lots of chain places as well as mom and pop ones too. there is an airport.
