Going Home!
I just wanted to share my good news with someone - about 2 months ago I posted that my DH and I would be moving back to MA from CO by the end of this year. We now have a date! DH's last day of work is Oct 15th, mine is the 22nd. DH will drive a trailer and my car home during my last week of work, then fly back and we will drive out together in his car on the 25th. I am so thrilled!!! I have been wanting to go home ever since I got here a year ago. And now I only have 23 more days to wait!!
This morning I had my first thought that I actually had to PACK all our stuff and load in onto a trailer. If anyone has any helpful/frugal moving tips (when we came out here we had movers - DH's employer paid for them), I'd love to hear them!

Congratulations on your upcoming move back home. My advice, clean out and start packing now. If you don't need it or love it, get rid of it NOW!

yep, declutter now, less to pack, less to move, less to unpack. you can probably get boxes from the retail stores near you, just ask around at a few stores. use some of your linens to pack breakables. we have used dishtowles to wrap glasses and such.

I'm sorry you didn't like Colorado - I guess I have been here so long now its just "HOME"- I started packing one room at a time and very specifaically labelling the box and stacking them in the garage. Leaving only the essentials in everyroom out in the end. the " Plan" was to have evryone stack each room in a pile so it would be easy to unpack but that didn't happen. I had also prioritized the boxes with numbers like #1 was immediate needs towels, pots n pans, dishes - #3 was down the road like decorator, cake decorating, cookie cutters, etc. the plan was the #1's would be out in front of the piles and the last packed everyday stuff would immediately go to the rooms they belonged it. I still think it was a good plan but I think I served too much beer and pizza! Good luck to you!!

I'm so glad to hear you are getting to move back home! I hope everything goes well with the move. I agree with everyone that decluttering and packing as much starting now is good. I know that I got a lot of boxes from liquor stores when I moved last time. Sometimes they have good boxes for seperating out breakables. Also don't forget to forward all your mail (lots of magazines, etc. have places on their websites where you can change your address). Keep us updated!
