    Default my day...my truck

Well, after a fit filled night with sleeplessness and frustration, i woke up this morning unsure if i wanted to make it to the Mom's meeting at church at 930. But I went, and I laid out the whole sorry for myself story about the truck. And as wierd as it may sound, we prayed for the return of our vehicle, our work horse. (funny note here, when the prayer ended as we were saying "in Jesus name, Amen" one of the other Mom's phones went off her ring tone is "Halleluija, Halleluija....." and we joked, one prayer is being worked on right away!) We went about rounding up our kids and going home. I went up to the church office with a description and a request for people in the office to keep their eyes open for it. I took the kids and we went home. Our neighbor lady is out there and she stops me to shoot the breeze a little. When out of nowhere we hear the mail man's truck comming up the hill. he stops outside my fence and calls me over. he says he thinks he saw my truck (i told him about it yesterday) and where he saw it. only the liscence plate is wrong. He said he'd feel better if i went and looked. so i did. and it WAS!

I sent my neighbor lady home with my kids. and I called the police. they told me to wait there they'd be along when they could. after the first two and a half hours i called church and asked if someone could wait with me, i was scared out of my mind. so a couple come and wait with me. 4 hours after my first call they come. They boot it, and check the area. after that they come get me to look it over. It is missing:

    the seat cover gone
    the drivers seat is askew
the column for the steering wheel is torn apart, wires hanging everywhere
    lisence plates gone
    stereo gone
    speakers gone
    tools gone
    broken dash
garter belt fromt he rearview mirror gone (huh??)
and it smells terrible. even with the window open(because it is broken out)

so the police took my permission to haul it to the impound lot for processing. I came home by way of the church, let them know it had been located and was safely under police watch, and came home.

I then called Dh and here's the phone call
me: Hi hon. Hey, how much do you Loooovvveee me??
him: huh? why? what have you done? (worried voice now)
me: nothing bad. what have you done today?
him: hon, i am busy, why are you calling me?
me: just tell me, what have you done today?
him: (getting frustrated) why? some tile, now some hardwood.
me: wanna know what i have done?
him: can you make it quick?
    me: I've been fighting crime!
    him: (confused) what?
me: i got your truck back.
    him: what??
me: i got your truck back.
    him: WHERE IS IT??
    me: police impound lot.
him: the sherrifs were supposed to tell me when it was found.
me: (why isn't he bowing to me by now, or at the very least telling me how wonderful I am and taking me to dinner??) it isn't a sherrif issue anymore, it was found in town.
    him: where was it?
    me: behind the goodwill.

well, you get the gist. That was my day. how about you??

I am so proud of me!!

And to top it off, yesterday when i told erick i had to ld the mail man, he said it wasn't going to do any good, it would never be here in town. I had said it was worth telling everyone we could. He shrugged it off as a "yeah...ok, whatever".

See? he needs to do something nice for me!

I'm so glad you found it and that you sound better now.

Dh will come around when he hears the whole story. Sorry it is damaged but atleast it is back. Do you think the police will find who took it?

Good job Missy, telling everybody you could about your truck. Lots of good people on your team keeping there eyes open really worked. Hang in there & I hope you can do something with what those bums left of your truck in that ally.
Sorry this whole thing ever happened.

WTG Missy! Just a silly suggestion....next time you might wanna pray that it's found in "good" condition. Maybe they will have had the interior re-done or something

WTG, you crime fighter! I would have been scared to wait there, too. I'm glad you got it back, but sorry it's a mess.

Maybe you should make up some "wanted" posters for your house with pics of the truck and include the REWARD part for the person who finds it. Think Erick would get the hint?
