I'm incredibly lucky to have a number of amazing people IRL who I can call my friends and I definitely don't take them for granted. I don't do acquaintances, really.
It's weird, I actually find it hard to make friends online which is such a shame because it's a brilliant way to get to know people with similar interests and I've encountered some really great people
I think it's maybe because I am more uncomfortable in groups - IRL or online - and much prefer talking to people one-on-one. Since forums are obviously a group setting, I completely suck at getting to know people
I really like these forums, though.
Tips on how to be more sociable are welcome

I have one really good friend IRL and a few others that I see at different events. I'm very shy so no friends online. Seems I always say the wrong thing and it's taken wrong. Also, I've always been a loner so I avoid others 'drama'.

My wife says I talk to you (my wifes) more than I talk to her. I said it's because you guys can't yell at me.

Hiya FrugalFranny...I'm just outside Palm Springs. The desert just agrees with me. I love visiting San Diego when I can because it's so different from where I live. And the shopping there is fantastic. What city are you in?
Onencgirl...I can totally relate to this and it gets more true as I age. The older I get, the less drama I can tolerate. I mean, some drama just goes with the territory (dealing with people). But when it's all gossipy nonsense and who-said-what all the time, I just get worn out. Also, I've always been a loner so I avoid others 'drama'.
The drama factor is why I had to drop out of the local knitting club. It was unbelievable.

There should be a little button for "Wow, me too, I know exactly what you mean"
