Hi Ya'll, Another Newbie Here!
Warm greetings from coastal Georgia!
I live on 5 acres with my hubby and 12 year old daughter whom I homeschool. We also have two grown married children and 4 beautiful grandbabies.
We sold our previous home and are now in the process of building another home ourselves. We have purchased a sawmill and will cut our own lumber.
We have a garden and grow whatever is in season and I put up what we harvest. We also raise a few pigs for meat and will soon raise quail as well. We had chickens for a good while, but the high winds that came through with the last hurricane sent a large oak tree crashing through the chicken yard and we lost all but a few hens. I have found homes for the remaining few until I can build another pen. This spring we plan on buying a few goats and a donkey and maybe a cow. We have plans in the works for a smoke house and a corn cribb for the feed corn.
We also share our home with one cat named Willie, a chihuahua named Abby, and a black lab named Dixie. We also take in orphaned & injured wildlife until they are able to return to the wild.
My hobbies include gardening, cooking, cookbook collecting, yard sales, crafts and reading. We attend church where I teach Children's Church and I'm V.P. of the Ladies Ministries.
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone here.

Welcome to FV!
I'm a northwest GA native and adore the Savannah area. We're thinking of moving away from FL (we want more acreage and back around southern folks attitudes and manners) in a few years and one of the places dh is heavily campaigning for is south GA.

Hi Kim,
LOL, well ya'll come on. We live about 10 miles east of Darien, Ga.. Hubby is a crane operator at the Savannah Ports Authority and that is about 1 1/2 hours from where we are, but to him it's worth the drive to have the space and peace. This property we have now is right behind his boyhood home and he grew up hunting and playing back here when he was a kid. We are but a skip and a hop from the Altamaha river, so during the summer we fish the river and pond here on the property. We run trout lines in the river swamp when the water is high enough and catch catfish. Being this close to the coast, we also shrimp, crab, flounder & frog gig too. LOL, we say we raise frogs, but actually we have a large natural pond here on the property that is full of frogs. We hunt deer and wild hogs and grow a summer and winter garden. We pretty well got it all except the grits. LOL
Oh by the way, I got Diana aka Catl8dy, hooked on grits up there in WI.. LOL, ask her about it.

I know where Darien is! (Well, the outlet mall LOL!)
You know, I hate grits and tea - can you believe it!
