you just can't seem to balance your checkbook? Arrrrg.......I am a lousy $9 off somewhere here.

This is one thing that drives me crazy.

I have looked at numbers until my eyes are crossed so thought I would take a break, come here and vent a little. Sorry! I'll go back tonight when I get home from church and take another stab at it cause I won't sleep a wink tonight till I figure it out. LOL

mine never matches what the bank says we have. but as long as it stays that the bank says we have more than i say we havei don't let it bother me. i know ther eis an extra $100.00 in checking and i use that as a cushion should dh forget to tell me about a meal somewhere.

I know I shouldn't let it get to me, but I have always had this thing about the checkbook balancing to the penny. First thing every morning, I grab a cup of coffee, the checkbook, and get on the phone to the bank and go at it.

Sorry about that.Hope you figure it out soon.
I write the checks & hubby balances the checkbook. I always cringe as he's doing it in case my math is off or I didn't write a number clearly and when he wrote a rare check he didn't add/subtract right because of my messyness.He sits there & swears and....anyways, I'm always glad when the error isn't mine.

Oh, for the record...I had nothing to do with your checkbook error.

Carolyn sorry about your check book problems. That is one reason why in 36 years of marriage we have never had a checking account. People have tried to talk us into it but don't want one. We must be the only people who don't have a checking account. For out of town bills I pay with money orders.

Sounds like you have a number reversed (ie. $34 vs. $43). Hope you find the error soon. It drives me crazy if I am off by a few pennies and I won't stop until I find the mistake.

Found it!

Carrie, it was a figure I had reversed. I though so all along, but I just couldn't find it right away I guess. I write all the checks, pay all of the bills, and balance both checkbooks daily. We have two accounts at two different banks. Hubby hates writing checks and just uses his ATM card for all purchases and I mainly write checks for everything except gas, and then I use my ATM card.
