Default So I can't be the only who is thinking.....

That all this weird weather around the world must mean something? It seems to me that this year so far has been the wildest weather in a long time! This weekend at our church it was all the talk. I wonder what this means? The horrible effects the weather has been having on so many people! And the snow in las vegas and hawaii, floods, earthquakes over 8.0, and the horrible Tsnumia in Asia....what's next!?

A friend was just mentioning this to me yesterday. Historically, has there ever been a period like this?

Yep, it's something to think about. What freaked me out was the number of hurricanes that hit Florida this past season!

Can I just reassure some of you please? Snow in Hawaii up on Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa is not unusual. One of those mountains names (I can't remember which one now) actually refers to the snow covered top in Hawaiian. Also, historically, yes there have been periods like this. If you study the Geological records you will see that this kind of weather has happened before. I think we are seeing a shift in the climate again.

LOL! I was just coming to post the same thing about Hawaii - those mountains are at such a great elevation that snow is not unusual. I lived on Maui and we would go up to the highest point on Haleakala (dormant volcano - 10,023 feet) in the middle of the day and be freezing!

What concerns me is the prediction that FL is going to continue to see hurricanes like last year for the next 10 years. No one here will have anything left if that happens (so many already don't have anything left - it's still a sea of blue tarp roofs and on the front page of the newspaper today is an article about how many more people in our county are now classified among the working homeless because they lost everything in the hurricanes, spent their life savings renting hotel rooms and such afterward, for some reason didn't qualify for help from FEMA , and are now living in their vehicles and tents).

I've heard a lot of people commenting that our mid 80's temps over the last couple of weeks was unusual, but it wasn't. Ever since we've lived here it seems we are warm one week and freezing the next all through winter.

Global warming? I am with Debbie I saw a show on discovery channel where some scientists believe this is normal to have shifts in the climate every so many years.
I personaly don't think they really know. According to some, if my family hangs on to my home (which is 60 miles from the beach) they could have beach front property some day, thousands of years from now. lol

Our weather seems the same as always. We'll have 70's weather oneweek (last week) and freezing weather the next (lastnight low was 18 F )
I guess the overall weather seems a little different. Like the snow in Vegas. Dang it,I WANT SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is a bit daunting isn't it? A friend of mine thinks that it might just be a climate shift because the earth does this every few thousand years or so- I would like to believe it is just that, and not because we have destroyed our environment-

I had been listening to the alarmists about this too and dh is always saying, "it's all just a natural part of the climate shift".... but still I was thinking I dunnoooo.... Well the other evening on the weather (local) they were talking about how warm it was that day after having really cold weather just a day or 2 before. Then someone had posed the question about what was the warmest day ever recorded on this date? I laughed when they said it was 80 F. on this day in 1927. Cracked me up.....I won't be bothered to worry over it anymore....I mean really how does that help anyway.....

Today and tomorrow there will be record breaking highs.. We hit 70 today, and tomorrow is supposed to be the same.. We were not above 33 this time last week... I don't ever remember it being this warm for Oregon at this time of the year... It is kind of spooky and I really would not want to have something happen like in that movie.. Mexico would still be too warm for my blood..
