    Unhappy okay- need some encouragement!

I think I need a bit of encouragement today. Although things have gone so well for us since our move, I am starting to get quite dispirited about our house situation. We have had some trouble trying to find a place to rent that meets our financial, as well as personal needs. We have seen some real doozies, I can tell you, as well as some houses that were just way too big. Last night, we found a lovely home, the best one so far--I loved it, but it's expensive- after looking at the money thing, ( I was up at 3 am with calculator and pen in hand,) I think it's just too much money. We would not have the money we need to save to eventually buy a house, which is what our goal is in the first place, and we would be totally dependent on me working, which is what we did not want to do (in case of baby,).
I can handle it, but I need the strength to stand up to DH. who is really good at talking me around- It IS a really beautiful home, but we cannot afford it!

Well it might help to remember that this housing is only going to be temporary. Why spend too much money on something that isn't even yours?? Soon -- you'll own your very own beautiful house. Now that is something to put money into. Not someone else's investment. I know its tough to fend off dh when he's determined but tell him why sacrifice the house dream for a temporary shelter.

I know you are right, Chea. Thanks for taking the time to respond. I just need to stand my ground. Our dreams are certainly worth waiting for!

Just remind him that the sacrifices you make now will get you into a bigger and better home quicker than if you waste money on more home than you can afford now.

I agree, remind him the quicker you save, the quicker you own.

Just remind dh that you are looking for a temporary place for now that would help you stay in your budget so you can save money for your permanent home.

My best advice.....write down exactly what you want in a rental....every little detail. Then write we've found the perfect rental home for us at an amazingly low price. Keep looking...you'll come up with it. (this works for me in so many areas of my life.....no joke)

Keep your goals/dreams at the top of your list.........You will find something that you like that will fit into your budget, without crimping your savings for your new home............
