The kids from church

Last night was AWANA, and Matthew and I pick kids up and take them home, and also do the same thing for Sunday School. Well, last night, the kids were being so good, and they even put their seatbelts on without me having to remind them!!!! I was so proud of these guys! Mind you, these are the types of kids who come from broken families, abusive families, and they are all looking for love and attention. As you know, even bad attention is attention in their eyes. I feel so bad for half of these kids, they are really good kids, they just have a rough life. Well anyways, last night, as I said they were being so good, that Matthew and I stopped off at a convenient store and I told them that we were going to go in the store and get a soda. They could each pick out their own. But they had to stay right beside me and not run around the store. If they didn't behave I would bring them back out to the van and they wouldn't be getting anything. Well, one kid acted up, he is on medication and his father never gives it to him, so out to the van with him. I did go ahead and buy him a drink, but he didn't get it until he got home and I went in and spoke to his father. One of the older kids on the van was telling the other kids, that they should learn how to be more respectful because Miss Roxy didn't have to buy us these soda's, she did it cause she loves us!!!! I almost broke down and bawled like a baby when I heard that. I do love all these kids, that is why I do what I do, and it meant the world to know that one of them understood why I did the things I did.............

It just feels so good when they "get" the fact that they are loved doesn't it?

Roxy thanks for sharing that with us. I worry every single day about the all the kids out there who just need somebody to love them. It's good to know that there is somebody caring for them.
