for anyone scared of clowns
sorry about my avatar. I didn't think it would scare anyone but if it did scare you, I apologise. I can't change back to any of my other avatars as I'm at the store. I'm using a generic av for the time being.

I too have an issue with clowns, the creep me right out. They have since I was a kid. Maybe it is because of the movie "It". I don't know, but i steer clear of them.

Aw, it's me, guys. I pm'ed Rhonda cuz I have SERIOUS clown issues. I never knew why, but they scare the bejesus out of me. And, Rhonda's particular clown? Come on...not exactly Krusty the Clown!
I can tell you EXACTLY where my fear stems from. I never had clown issues until I saw "Poltergeist" as a child. That clown doll at the foot of Robbie's bed? Well, it created a clown phobia as well as a doll phobia. My high school handbell choir used to tour the country every summer and do concerts. In one home in Michigan, I actually asked the lady who was hosting us if she could move all of the porcelain dolls in the guest room to another room because I KNEW I wouldn't sleep. Imagine my embarassment when she asked me if she could just put them in the hope chest at the foot of the bed and I had to admit to her (as a 17 year old) that that would be bad because then they'd be angry with me for having them locked up in a chest. She raised her eyebrows, but moved them for me.
I'm pretty tough, but a clown holding a doll could reduce me to an absolute puddle in seconds. My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

Amy, i can't handle them either. Hannah can have baby dolls, but they have to stay in her room. Its not so much the baby dolls but the porcelien dolls that freak me. Masks too on the walls....eek. I can feel them watching me. But clowns are the worst. I can't take the kids to the circus because of the phobia. And pics of angry clowns will bother my dreams for nights. My ex step mother found out about the phobia and plastered the living room in them, porcelin clown dolls, clown faces on tapestry type wall hangings, "theater style" masks on the walls, she even had this holographic pic on the wall.

It was grotesque. I slept with a baseball bat for awhile because of those things.

yikes, there are lots of you! Maybe I should start up a clown freakout support group in Common Ground.
My son is terrified of clowns too - he's 23.
and Amy, it's because of that same movie. He was also terrified of Santa when he was a baby. Yes, this is the same 6', bronzed surfie that eats me out of house and home. I love him and his phobias, I see them as a small part of his sensitive, unique personality.

I was talking about my clown problem with Darlene not long ago. We were actually looking online for the clown that scared me as a kid. lol (well I still get the creeps) I can still see it's face in my mind. It was stuffed, but had a plastic face. It was wearing a red suit too and had a pointy plush head.

I admit it, I was also freaked when I first seen it, but after the second time I read one of Rhonda's posts and jumped, I made a mental note to self that it was just a picture........and tried my hardest not to look at anyones avatars....

Just a word of advise...........Don't come to my house... I have about twenty masks from all over the world, and about ten of the harlequin dolls (the ones that look like clowns)... They are some of my prized possesions
.. So stay clear of my house all of you.. LOL Actually my DD just asked if I could also put all that away.. So for the time being, they are safely stored in the garage...
Oh well maybe that will be temporary.
