lesson learned!!! brr UPDATE!!!!!!!!
We had a flood last summer and had to replace the furnace, water heater pressure pump and a few other things in AUG.
Imagine our suprise early this morning comming home at 3am to a 50 degree house with a new furnace!!!! We have a crawl space that is warmed with it too so we have a few frozen pipes (no biggie as they will thaw once the heat goes on in the crawl space).
We went to bed to awake at 7 am to of course an even colder house. We are waiting for the service guy to come out. I am very thankful we have a decorative wood stove in the living room. Dh chopped some wood a bit ago and its up to 50 again in here and rising. Dh and I were talking and said "thank heavens we have back up heat!!!!" Yep the pipes will still freeze in the crawl space with burning the wood but at least we wont!!!! We decided no matter where we may live we will always have back up heat!!!~July 19 saving goal for event $104/$1000

Isn't a wood stove wonderful?! We have one that we bought a couple years ago and figure it will pay for itself inside 5 years.
Glad you are getting warmer bummer about the heater though. Do you have a warenty?

You are so right! If I ever buy a house in "cold" country again I will have a wood burning stove and/or a fireplace. Gas fireplace would be fine too except you have to have electricity to run the blowers so it's not an ideal backup system.
Hope you get the problem fixed soon. I hate the cold!"Success on any major scale requires you to accept responsibity."

GREAT NEWS!!!!
The service guy called Dh for more info before driving down. He asked Dh if it could wait until tomorrow and Dh said no because of the pipes. The service rep told Dh it was $135 just to drive to our home (were 30 miles from town). The guy told Dh lets see if anything can be done by you to save me a 30 miles drive and you a huge bill. So dh got him the model number etc and took the phone to the furnace. It has little lights inside it that blinked so many times in certain colors to tell you the problems. Do Dh tell him what the lights are doing. The guy looks up the codes and told dh to go outside to the intake and outlet pipes. The intake pipe was partially buried under snow (we had a big storm fri)_. THAT WAS THE WHOLE PROBLEM!!!! The furnace was shutting down because it couldnt draw in cold air. Cool beans!!!!!! Dh thanked the service tech big time! The service guy said he was glad he didn't have to drive the 40-45 min out here to kick a littl snow away from the pipe and give us a bill for $150!!!!!
I am so very thankful!!!!!!
I kept thinking this morning that I would have to use the money I had stached from my tip to pay this instead of suprise dh with a little over night anniversary get away.
I say yet again "I AM SO THANKFUL THE TECH SO HELPFUL OVER THE PHONE! What a nice guy!

Michelle, so glad you have backup heat! DH can't stress this enough and I can't wait until we get our own house so that we will have an extra source of heat!!

I'm so glad for you two! What a bummer thinking that a brand new furnace wouldn't work!
I'm glad it was so simple. I'm glad it was such a win win solution for both you and the tech.
Now you can still plan on the getaway, how wonderful!
