    Emphysema. He was quite a smoker. My dad would have died from this as well but managed to freeze to death on his porch in Seattle instead, a  few years ago, when he dropped his keys in a drunken stupor and couldn't find them to get inside.

    I really liked him. How sad that he has passed. I remember when I was a small child, my Grandfather was a policeman and he worked the 3-11 shift, when we spent the night with them on Friday nights, it was a treat to be able to stay up with my Grandmother and watch the Tonight Show while waiting on my Grandfather to get home from work. I always associate Johnny Carson with those happy memories.

    I just saw this when I logged on. They say he went peacefully and I'm glad, but still it's so sad to loose such a comedy legend.
