    Default Checking accounts

Does your bank charge a service charge on your account ?
If my checking account drops below $500 then I'm charged $5 for the month .. just curious!

No, our account is a 'free' account. We don't earn any interest on it though (those types do have a monthly fee at our bank).

I have no minimum balance and no monthly but they do charge $.50 each time I use my card as a debit card and $1.25 if I use it at an ATM machine that isn't theirs. Guess what I don't do

Ugh, in this very small town, the only bank here does not charge for minimum balances, but they do charge $6 a month. But I get 500 free checks a year, $1k life insurance, free safety deposit box.

No fee, no minimum balance, interest paying, and no atm fees if using their atm's (but they're literally everywhere) I love our credit union. We do pay for checks, but that's ok since I rarely use them.

We pay a $10 monthly fee for bank service charges but we also get $10,000 in life insurance each and a safety deposit box plus the maximum over draft protection. It's high but we consider this our burial expense plan.....

we have a credit union so no fees unless you bounce a check, use an atm that isn't part of their little co-op, use the checkcard as a debit, things like that. i have to buy my checks but they aren't expensive. both checking adn savings earn interest.

We have our checking and savings accounts through the port credit union. There is no minimum balance required; unlimited check writing, free checks, free ATM and check card, no monthly service charges, and both accounts earn interest.
