    Angry What a mess, just what I didn't need...**UPDATED**

Here I am, at home from work today--snowday!! I'm minding my own business on the computer, listing ebay stuff and just having a nice relaxing day. All of a sudden, I hear this loud noise in the garage, at first I think the cat got in there and knocked something over, then I look around the room and see all 4 cats and the dog--hmmm, it wasn't the cat.

I run downstairs, open the door into the garage and it's flooded, yep, a water pipe burst. I run to find the shut-off--I don't know where it is or which handle to turn--never really listened to Mike when he told me (oops). I finally get it shut off, I move some stuff so it doesn't get any more ruined than it already is.

I called the plumber that does work for us and thankfully he's here already fixing it. What a disaster--I was pushing the water outside into the driveway and of course its freezing as soon as it hits the driveway. I can't tell you how many times I almost fell!

Calgon--take me away!!! (after I get the pipe fixed!!!)

    ****UPDATE****
The plumber has it all fixed, thank goodness. It could've been much, much worse, thankfully it snowed today and I didn't go into work--I feel very lucky!

I'm going to go thru everything that was piled up in the garage and throw out anything that got ruined--immediately! I'm not hanging onto anything, that I can't salvage.

HUGE lesson learned--know where the shut-offs are! I'm going to get some tags and label each and every valve downstairs just incase this happens again. So many valves down there that I have no clue what goes to what!

I'm off to push more water out of the basement and start throwing stuff away.

Oh no! Sorry you're having to go through this at any time, much less on your day off! But just think if no one was home and this happened! Glad the plumber is there now to get the pipe fixed. Hope you don't have too much water damage.

Aww, I'm sorry Gina. Hope it's all cleaned up & unfrozen soon & I hope it doesn't cost bunches.

OK ladies, who's going to make sure they know where the water shut off valve is if they don't already know? I've got it narrowed down to 2. Gonna find out for sure tonight.

Oh how awefull! I'm so sorry but glad it didn't get worse than it was.

I should find our water shut off. Not sure where the main is. Maybe it's at the well.

Glad it wasn't worse.... I know that our water shut off is in the driveway next to the water meter.. DH broke it almost as soon as we moved in... So at least I know where that is... I am so glad that we don't have gas throughout the house.. That would be yet another one to remember where it is... Good luck Gina....

I know where it is--DS#1 broke a water pipe last spring. It was two hours til DH got home and I would have had a swimming pool in my back yard if a neighbor and I hadn't found the shut off!
