Talking Was stressing...now i am not

The price of milk is soaring. We are lucky to find it discounted to 4.00 a gallon lately (i am sure the rest of the country is the same.) And my kids go through milk like you wouldn't believe. I was worrying, trying to scrape the money together to buy some back-up (Instant dry milk) and almost bought some while out today...had I two more dollars, I would have. Then the neighbor drops in. She's been helpiing out at a motel owned by a friend of hers....who gave her all kinds of kitchen staples...including three packages of carnation instant dry milk, all un opened! She came by and asked if we use the stuff. I told her yes and she said "please take these, I have absolutely no use for them, and it would be a shame to toss them out!"

Sorry, I got so caught up rejoying in your blessing that I forgot to add this. LOL

When Shane turned 9, he became a milk addict. I mean this kid would down a gallon a day if I let him. Jennifer could take it or leave it, cause she seemed to be addicted to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (I truly don't know how I survived those kids). A friend of mine told me that she would buy two gallons of milk, pour half of each gallon into two empty gallon jugs she had washed (I used empty water jugs), then make up enough of the instant milk to fill up each jug to make four gallons of milk. I tried it and Shane never knew the difference. Of course, I don't think he stopped long enough to pay attention to the water jugs cause I guess he figured cause it was white and in the fridge, it was milk. LOL I kept two in the fridge and I froze the other two. I just didn't fill them up all the way so they wouldn't burst when they expanded while freezing. I would thaw out completely, shake well, and you couldn't tell the difference in the taste.

It's funny now cause Shane won't touch milk and Jennifer can't stand peanut butter! LOL
