    Default Freezing question.....

Ok. This may sound dumb, but can you freeze sour cream? I got some at the grocery store for $.25 each. I can't use it all. If I freeze it and something happens and its no good, I am not losing much $. Has anyone frozen sour cream before? Can it be done???

I'd try with a small amount overnight. See what it's like once it thaws.

I've read online (and probably in a book as well) that you can make it last much longer than the exp. date by turning the container upside down. I've never tried it personally though.

Thanks ladies. I have 2 containers that have a exp date of this week. That's why I am wanting to freeze them.

I know that I have used SC up to 10 days past the date and lived to tell about it! I usually use the "sniff check" if it's past date. Sour cream is usually bright white -- if it's not, out it goes.
Most sources say SC doesn't freeze well in recipes, but I use it all the time for enchiladas, potato dishes, etc. and have never had any trouble.
