Queen Camilla ?
The big story here this morning is that Prince Charles is to marry his long term - I don't know what we're meant to call her - consort, girlfriend whatever Camilla Parker-Bowles on April 6th of this year.
Apparently this has the blessing of the Queen and it's going to happen...
There's been speculation about this for a long time as they have been together since before Charles married Diana, I think it's 30 years or more. Alot of people seem pretty upset about it because of how people think of Diana and also Camilla has been villified by the British press to some extent.
There seem to be a few camps concerning this subject, that it's the best love story ever, that it's a disgrace and it's only 7 years since the death of Diana. (some have the problem that Camilla could become Princess of Wales if they do marry) or that he should marry her if he wants to but should give up the throne.
www.bbc.co.uk has the story on its front page if anyone is interested.

I never understood why he choose the dog over the beautiful Princess Di.

I think that it is a good thing. We only live once and we really should marry from the heart. I think that Camilla is his heart.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVED Di and admire all she did to make the world a better place. I was shaken by the tragedy of her death, but it is crystal clear to me that Charles loves Camilla so I give my blessing and wish them a lifetime of happiness.
CNN said this morning that Camilla was one who helped him select a future wife (Di) and that he proposed to Diana in Camilla's vegetable garden, maybe it should have been Camilla then...just a thought.

It was only a matter of time...a thought...would we care if he had been the car insurance salesman down the road?

According to CBC she won't be made queen should he become king.

No, that's right she'll be the Duchess of Cornwall. I don't think anyone ever really thought she would be "Queen".

I feel kind of sorry for them myself. It seems to me that she has always been his love. They probably should have married instead of him and Di.

Don't get me wrong. I think Di was a wonderful woman and she did so much good in the world. I feel sorry for her as well that she never had his heart like a wife should. (or it appears that way to me)
Camilla will never replace Di in people's hearts, but I really don't think she acts like she wants to.
Just my "yank" opinion lol

The only surprise to me is that it took this long for them to get married. I think most people could see this coming years and years ago. I do feel sorry for Diana though who I felt was just used by Prince Charles to produce an heir or 2 to the throne since he was clearly in love with Camilla all along. Diana's life was tragic from the time she married him.

I wish them all the happiness. I think he has always loved her and he has waited 7 years from the death of Diana even though they were divorced and his children are grown and almost grown so I see nothing wrong with his marrying her now.

I thought Diana was a bit of a psycho and I think Charles and the royal family are irrelevant.

I concur. There are so many more important things to worry about in this world.Originally posted by forestdale

I'm of mixed opinion about it, but since I'm not involved and it's really none of my business, I don't plan on spending a lot of time pondering it.
