while eating pistachios....
I wondered why they were dyed red. (the nuts I'm eating now are natural)

so now I know.
I read they also were dyed to compete with good n plenty candy in the vending machines.

I always wondered why they were dyed red. Don't see many red ones anymore though. hmmmm.

Ya know... I remember hearing about why they dyed them as a child... probably why I was afraid to eat them.
A bright red nut just LOOKS unnatural!
but I love them just the same... w/out their red coats!
(that and probly something to do with that Red color dye no.2 - was it??)

Well what do you know? I love food where you have to expend calories to eat it - pistachios, crab legs...LOL!

I never knew they were dyed red. I haven't seen any red ones....maybe that is why.
