Default Do you exercise?

I'm trying to get into a exercise routine and sticking to it LOL

I ALMOST decided to join an althelic club then changed my mind because it's expensive and I'm trying to save money for my "dream home" someday. Plus, I hate changing in locker rooms. and I don't think gyms are all that sanitary.

I don't know if others do this, but I was thinking about "power walking" (walking briskly) around the store for about an hour listening to my CD player. I don't enjoy walking along the side of the road since some parts of it is narrow and a vehicle goes by about every 5-30 seconds.

I do take my dogs outsde and watch them run around but I don't feel I get that much excercise.

I really need to work on my stomach and upper body strength.

I checked out some fitness/excercise/yoga books out of the library to get some ideas.

I do try to make exercise a regular commitment. I have not always been the exercise guru, but I have grown to enjoy it. I feel like I get more energy after exercising so it is a boost to me.

I don't belong to a gym either. I just take brisk walks or do an exercise video. I also have to teach a cardio exercise program with the children at the school I work at 2 times a week and that helps. I know I will at least get my 30 minutes in on those 2 days. I would love to teach it all 5 days!

Good luck in whatever exercise routine you go for!!

I love walking as an exercise routine -- and I can hardly wait for the daylight to last long enough in the evening for me to take advantage of it! I detest walking on a treadmill. It is so much better to be outside and smell the air and see the world.

I haven't done power walking, but have done spurts of speeding up for a minute or so during my walk.

I don't have an exercise routine. I get mine by walking on the beach or working on my homestead (always lots of trees to trim and such).

Most women don't like going to the gym... not because we're lazy... we're WOMEN!!! We dont like being looked at because we're not the svelte woman in the spinning class in the front row so she can see herself in the mirror!

Okay, so we gotta move somehow - but how?

Speed walking is FUN!!! Get a buddy to go with you... makes it more fun, competetive (even to those who (like me) pretend to have no competitive nature) and you can sort of talk (every few breathes).

I do yoga for an hour everyday - if I get the chance (that is, chores caught up & child not velcroe'd to me asking me "are you gonna play w/me" (which means board games... he's not an active child). So that means about 4 or 5 times a week I do yoga.

Whatever you do... start slow! Especially speed walking.

Though it is "walking" - you can really hurt yourself.

When you get comfy enough... maybe take the dogs speed walking with you!

I ride a recumbent bike 5 days a week for 1/2 hour and do resistance training 3 days a week for 15 minutes or so. We just purchased a tread mill, so I am thinking of how to incorporate it into my plan.

I do exercise videos at home when my toddler allows it, and I also have an exercise bike at home.

I used to go to the gym, but I was dependent on the daycare on site and you couldn't do reservations. After day after day arriving and finding I had to wait 30-60 minutes to get a spot in the daycare for my son I gave up and cancelled membership. I hear it still unfortunately has the same problem, so wasn't worth it to me at $70/month.

I also walk outside and do heavy gardening for some exercise (trimming trees, etc).
