Do you save anything a little different?
This morning I was washing dishes and got to wondering this as I washed this little bottle. I like to save little bottles to hold single flowers, they are like miniature vases. I group them together or let them stand alone, so simple & pretty.
Do you save anything ? How do you use it?~*Darlene*~

I save broken bits of dishes -- but only the ones that I find in my yard and garden. We live on an old farm and apparently whenever they broke a dish they threw it in the yard -- mostly white ones!
I hope someday to make one of those mosaic trays with just the broken dish pieces I've found on the farm. I've got to start finding more than white pieces though!~~Jean~~

I was saving prescription bottles for a while and then tossed most of them out. After all, how many tiny containers can I possibly need. It does seem like such a waste to toss out stuff like that though.

I save crystal light containers. The tall plastic bottle is good for pens and pencils, and they also have lids so good for storing other stuff. The little cup the powder comes in I wash and keep for my children's paints and beads and other art stuff.

I also save the small prescrption bottles. I throw away the caps and use the bottles as holders for light bulbs I paint. I simply screw the tops of regular and round vanity light bulbs into the tops of the bottles and I then I can hold onto the bottles to paint the bulbs and then I can set them down to dry. Most times, I have fifty or more light bulbs painted and drying at one time.Originally posted by paelthom

I also save large jars and small bottles for flowers. Last year for our annual church picnic, I took the large pickle jars and painted the outside a creamy white, tied raffia into a bow around the neck, and filled each jar with black eyed susans that grow wild everywhere here during the summer. I placed a jar on each picnic table and they were too cute. You can also paint the jars and apply some of the cute rub on decals available now. I did one with a rooster for a friend and she keeps it filled with fresh flowers on the kitchen table all the time. It's best though to apply a clear protective coat over the outside of the jar if it will be used all the time to keep the paint from chipping.
Note: The lightbulbs I paint are ones that are blown. I have a friend who manages a hotel on Sea Island and she supplies me with the bulbs.

I save all glass jars, I love good jar crafts.
I must admit however that I am saving tp rolls too (I have lots) I bought a book about a year ago that has really cute crafts for kids that goes along with popular read aloud stories. I really would need lots for 20-35 kids to make one a week. (can you tell I am trying to justify being a packrat?)

Funny you should mention toilet paper rolls. I just started making snowflake ornaments out of them.

I save peanutbutter jars not for crafts but for camping and picnicing. I am always making chicken salad and ham salad so I just fill the jars and make the sandwiches fresh where ever we are. I also use them to shake my flour and water when making gravy. (no lumps ever) Not to mention their storage possibilities.
