Anyone else have a bad exspierince on another site?
It took me a long time to come to a board and post again after having a really bad time on a different board. Has this happened to anyone else?

No one specific incident comes to mind, but I have left other boards because people are so negative, and sometimes downright mean. You can get flamed on other boards I've belonged to for expressing any sort of opinion. Once I found the village, I stayed, because the atmosphere here is so great-- everyone pretty much accepts everyone else and respects their views.

This is my first and only experience with boards like this. The village is a very special place and I cant imagine finding the kind of acceptance I have found here anywhere else.

I get frustrated on another site I use to visit often. It was an army wives forum and so many people were negative and would lash out at people.
I am a member of another board and have been there for over 3 years and I LOVE it!

I think that everyone here respects others opinions, and thats a good thing
And if someone does have a hard time respecting someones post, they should not reply to it. Everyone has different opinions. As for being flammed, Sara will not tolerate that here
It's safe to post and share your thoughts with us. I would love to see more of the members post

This board is one of the few where I've never had a problem, I nearly left the same board- where you had a problem. . . . . I have left some yahoo lists. . . . . .

I had a pretty bad experience late last year, I even stopped coming here for a short period!
Thankfully though after a couple of weeks I was contacted by the moderator of the board and was told that I had a full apology on the site as the person has "mistaken me for someone else".
I like having a "bit of banter" and reading others' opinions but as far as personal attacks go I think it's pointless and can be pretty upsetting. (and I'm not usually bothered by what people say to me).
I know I've said this before but when I stopped working I made a decision to not be around negative people and this includes on the internet so I just go where I feel welcome.

Atleast it's nice to know there are others out there! I still wish sometimes that I wasn't taken the wrong way but hey that's why I don't post much on too many boards anymore. I am starting to feel safe here though Thanks to you all!

One problem with posting , anywhere, is that when you are thinking a thought you have inflections. In the printed word posts have to be taken for just those words.
I have had a hard time at one board I used to go to. I stopped going there as soon as the comment was made.

i have had problems elsewhere too. Maybe it was the sheer size of the board. I like our community, it may be big, but it feels smaller...maybe because we all get along so well. And we respect each other's opinions and feelings.
I am a member of other frugal sites, sure, but i don't feel as "part of it" as I do here, and simply don't feel I am ready to post much at the others. But maybe someday I will warm up to the forums, but FV is and will always be my home, I feel much more comfortable here to express myself
I was a member at a pregnancy site and i used their chat rooms all the time, and the chat rooms were broken up by trimester. Yeesh don't go into another room if you weren't exactly that far along! Man alive those ladies would bite yer head off.
My very first chat site was "Martha Stewart .com's" chat room, it was a little snobby and somethings that others could do i couldn't based on price. I loved it there, but that had been closed for something like two years before Melody introduced me to this site. haven't been able to get rid of me since then

I have learned to stay away from anysites that have strong opinoins, they usually don't want to debate or discuss another opinoin or idea just reenforce their own. I like this site for the way others just say I disagree and go on.Life would be pretty boring if we were all the same on all issues. here we seem to learn from one another. cau

I just have to agree too....even though I rarely post anywhere so haven't been in a "confrontation" but MAN some of the things I read really flabagast me. Hate to admit but sometimes it's amusing, and other times you can only shake your head and wonder. Maybe that's why I hesitate to post...don't want to be one of "those" ones.
