Gripey and I were "shopping" at upscale furniture stores today
which I've never been one to frequent before so I'm feeling a bit out of place in my walmart (cute even if I do say so myself and have had many compliments on it) t-shirt knit not really jogging suit b/c it's not like fleece or anything but it has a jacket with a zipper and hood and pants that are sort of boot cut. Anyway so we're feeling a bit out of our element in there.... . Since we are almost debt free and have waited for about 12 yrs. on new living room furniture we had decided that we're going to get a nice leather living room set with the notion in mind that we may never have to replace it hence the purchase price justified. So we've picked out a set and it looks so expensive to me, price wise. I've been shopping like a crazy woman trying to find the best deal anywhere, internet inquiries, all the local stores that carry the brand, etc. and so on. So this really snobbish woman is waiting on us, telling me that they can get the sofa and loveseat but there are no matching recliners....Um, yes there are. I've had them priced to me no less than 10 times already. Oh, well I'll need to check...that sort of thing. She was soooo snobbish, looking down her nose at us...... . SSSsssoooo when she was in the office trying to prove me wrong about the recliners (which she wasn't able to do b.t.w.
) Gripey and I were sitting on the leather sofa. Gripey says, you know, I really need my jogging pants and t-shirt and fav. pillow to be able to tell if this will do or not. So I start giggling (and in this store I'm pretty sure there is no giggling allowed...rofl) and say yeah you could be like that model on Desperate Housewives that was doing the gig where she was lying in her sexy lingerie on the mattress trying to sell mattresses. Only you'd be in your jogging pants, laid out on the sofa, remote in hand (but barely dangling about to fall) and snoring like a bear! We had a good laugh and the lady seemed very put out with us when she came back. I'm still grinning about it.
I'm seriously thinking about calling the local modelling agencies b/c truly I believe that for the dh's that go furniture shopping in the high end stores....Gripey just might be what it would take to sell sofas at those prices!
Talk about feeling like country comes to town.....

Wtg Gripey & Lisa! I'm sure the friendly sales lady will not be making a commission off of you two with her snobby attitude.
Have fun shopping & do wear your jogging suits & bring the remote next time.

WTG! Kind of reminds me of that scene in Pretty Woman where Julia goes into the dress store on Rodeo Drive and gets put out - uh, but with furniture of course. And uh, I am not saying you are sleezy - well maybe that analogy is all wrong. LOL!

Hey Lisa!
Now you just need to cry to Richard Gere and have HIM take you back and tell them he is going to spend and OBSCENE amount of money! LOL! They can then call out all the Marys (Remember - Mary Grace, Mary Kate, Mary Sue???) LOL! Um...does this mean I have seen this movie too much??? LOL!

lol! cripes, she's working in a store, does she realise that?
Lisa, we have a leather three seater lounge with matching recliners. DH loves it but I wish we'd bought something that I could slip cover. Anyhow, I hope you get your dream suite.

Good for you, you did your homework before shopping.
Probably the fact that you knew more about the furniture (matching recliner) than she did, ruffled her feathers a little.
I refuse to deal with snobby salespeople. I will simply walk off and ask to speak with another salesperson. It's my time and my money!
