Question How much cash have you ever held?

Hey I'm up all night, and I can think of some pretty goofy things!

So the question is: How much cash (not checks or anything else) have you held at one time?

I think *maybe* for me it was about $2,000.

$10,000.00. I was working at a store that sent Western Union and we had a customer who was sending it. Of course, we had to COUNT all of it (all in small bills ), so we handled ALL of it--more than once!

CJ, I know the feeling, takes you forever to accumulate the amount and it's gone!

WOW, Lori, that is a lot of counting!

Probably about $1400 one time many years ago, when we got that back as a tax refund. That was so long ago. Now this year we have to pay some in and I think that is the first time we have had to do that.

This probably doesn't count, but, I work in a bank. So everyday I get to handle everyone elses money! Yesterday cashed a check for $28,000.

My own money would have been, around 6,000.

Cold hard cash, probably $3-5,000. As far as checks go, $50,000.
I remember I liked the feeling.

at work, a few thousand doallars. we had to make depsoits during the day if we were really busy so we wouldn't be lugging a ton of money to the bank at night so the totoal deposts were never more than 2,500.
personal money, only a few hundred. for big purchases i'd rather write a check. i'm too afraid to lose a large sum of money.
heck i don't like carrying more than $20.00 at any one time because i'm afriad of just losing that much.

My own money--- $7428.00 It was the last payment on some property I purchased. We had to cash out a check at one bank, and take the cash to another bank to pay it off--- they wouldn't take a personal check for the final payment, in case it bounced.

I remember being very nervous drving 3 miles with that much cash on me.

For other people's money-- I used to work at a toy store and I worked the day after Thanksgiving. My cash drawer had over $15,000 for one 10 hour shift!

I used to work accounting for a grocery store and when we did Saturday nights deposits, it was usually $25,000 - $35,000.

Well my own money I would say around $10,000.

But when i was working it was normal for me to handle upwards of $100,000 a day in cash.

At work once, I had a ship captain hand me $45,000.00 in cash to pay for some kind of engine that his ship needed to replace to leave the port in Jacksonville. I will never forget making that deposit! Most of our deposits were checks.

We sold a boat once and I deposited the check, waited 3 days and took the money out in cash b/c I didn't like the local bank for very good reason. I think that was about $13,000. I put it in our bank later. I loved handling that much money....lol.
