    Good question! Mine do it alot. Maybe they have to lay down because they got tired from running in circles.

    Believe it or not...I know this one! It's an instinct! They are "chasing away the snakes" before they lay down in the wild.

    My Mom is a know-it-all and always used to say "You chasing away the snakes?" to my dog when he did this growing up.
