What's your hobby? What do you do just for yourself?
In my search to find a hobby I am having such a hard time. It seems that my hobby has been my children for so long that I have no idea what I like to do...so I have decided to try a bunch of new things and see what I like to do.....kinda like starting life over again and pretending I've never done anything before SO what's your hobby/sport/volunteer and how long have you been doing it? When did you realize it was for you and do you have friends that do this hobby with you? Did you meet new people while doing it?

My hobby is quilting and has been for almost 20 years. Its my passion. Although I've been quilting for almost that long, I found out that it was my passion a number of years ago when I had a major burn out and had to find only one hobby rather than several (by doctor's orders). At that time I had been doing a number of hobbies but I took a look at them all and realized I love color and putting color together. I began to focus solely on quilting and I've never looked back.
Yes I've met many people at courses I've taken and at quilting shows.
I alway's liked taking pictures and keeping albums and when I got married I decided to take it a step further. Although I didn't quit get finished with the wedding one, I have already started one for my baby.
My crafting. I love doing it and wish I could make a living at it. I have met many people through it too. I aloso live hiking. It is so relaxing bing IN nature. I have a friend I do this with as well as belonging to a hiking club. But I'm selfish and don't want to invilve too many people in this because it gets too noisy in the woods.
You know, that's a really good question-that I have no answer for. You have me wondering the same thing; just what is my hobby?? hmmmm I know I need one!

I like to excercize. I didn't really think of it as a hobby, but if I had more free time that is what I would do with it. I just had surgery and haven't done a thing in weeks, but I hope to be able to train for a small run (5k) coming up in June and another in October. If I don't get the OK from the doc to run, I will be walking the one in June. I know is sounds really small, but it will be wonderful for me. Over the last 18 months I have lost almost 50 pounds and it is the first time in 8 years I have considered doing anything physical

Genealogy. It is totally and completely addictive. And thank goodness for the internet -- makes it much simpler.
I LOVE finding out about previous generations and also finding those mysteries and skeletons and then trying to solve them! It can be VERY frustrating, but is like a really great puzzle that never ends.

i do a lot of different crafts and tend to rotate throught them as my time and needs change. right now i'm in a crocheting mood. i've made 4 wash cloths and 2 hot pads in the last couple of weeks. these will be christmas gifts.
i also scrapbook. my mom and sis do this as well and it makes things frugal because we can share the tools. it can be an expensive hobby.
i've done cake decorating, but don't do much of that anymore because of my carpal tunnel.
baking is a hobby to me, sometimes it's therapy for me. but i love to do it and it's one hobby dh doesn't mind indulging me since he knows he'll get something yummy to eat.

I love to cook. I spend time almost every day at my favorite recipe site or reading my cookbooks- looking up new recipes and getting ideas. I just got a paid membership to the recipe site-- at $20 for a year (includes extra features on the site) it's still a pretty cheap hobby-- we have to buy groceries whether I enjoy cooking or not anyways!
I enjoy scrapbooking, too-- it's finding the time to get everything out and put together that's hard! If we ever get the spare bedroom turned into a workable space where I can leave my supplies easily accessible I'm sure I'll do a lot more scapping.
I'm also passionate about volunteering for ChemoAngels... but I know you've all heard my pitch about them several times already.

I love scrapbooking, it is so addictive...but not exactly a frugal hobby!
I am also planning to start making candles. I had no hobbies for the longest time, and I am just now starting to realize the value of doing something just for ME
I think mine would have to be cooking- I would love to start scrapbooking again. I stopped when my husband and I split up- I just didn't have the heart- but now, even though my kids are older- there's no reason why I couldn't start it again- maybe I will!

I enjoy quilting and scrapbooking, but the thing that brings me the most tranquility is beachcombing. I collect sea glass, sea beans, and certain seashells. I prefer to go when the beach isn't very crowded so it's not a hobby that allows me to meet and make friends.

I also do alot of sewing and crafting, but something I do that is just for me would be searching antique stores, flea markets and thrift stores for treasures.....I love the thrill of finding something beautiful to wear or for my home
