I just can't believe how sad this made me...
I learned yesterday that my very first *serious* boyfriend that I had in high school passed away. He passed away last Thursday. The obituary did not give a reason or circumstance for his death. The obituary was printed in our hometown newspaper where my parents (and his parents too) still live. Both he and I both live out of state now, ironically only about 250 miles apart.
He left behind a wife and a 9 year old son
I haven't even seen him in 17 years, although he did email me through Classmates.com awhile back and we chatted back and forth about our respective spouses and children.
I feel like I lost a family member and I NEVER would have dreamed that I would feel that way.
I cannot imagine how his wife and son must be taking this. My own husband has heart issues and my biggest fear is something happening to him, and let me tell you, I am HYPERVIGILANT about his health. I just can't imagine

I am so sorry to hear about your friend- it is very difficult to lose someone whom you knew so well- even if it was a long time ago- it not only makes you realize how precious life is, but also makes you feel very "un-invincible." My prayers for you and his family at this sad time-

Thanks for all the condolences, guys. Today is his funeral service but it is in California so obviously I am not going...I sent a small flower arrangement and a note, and I sent a sympathy card to his parents. I don't know his home address to send a card to his wife or I would, I just can't imagine her pain.
I've known his family for many, many years....and I know that they are a total wreck today
