Check on sex offenders
I got this in an email today -- it is a link to a site where you can check on sex offenders in several states. You type in your zip code and the site lists the offenders in your area.
http://www.criminalcheck.com/
"To find out about the sex offenders in your area, click on the link below. (If it doesn't show up as a link, please copy and paste it in your browser.) This is not a joke--and it provides some shocking information. Just type in a zip code to find a list of offenders in your neighborhood. Also, when you get to the list of names you can click on their name to get their address. Pass this along...especially to people with kids.
Just click the link at the bottom and type ONLY your ZIP code."~~Jean~~

we have alot too.
They were just talking about making the list here for our state open to the public (currently you have to fill out a form and have a valid reason for wanting the list. plus you have to pay for it). I know the request is supposed to me making it to the state reps this week. And with all who's backing hte request, i am sure it will be available online here soon.

They use to have a public one when I lived in NC.
There are 5 in my zip code.....looks like 1 woman and 4 men.
Maybe I'll search there names in the online white pages and see if any of them live very close

Those registries are good information and a guide, but remember that every 18 or 19 year old kid with a girlfriend younger than 18--that has angry, vengeful parents--could be on there as well, just because he dated a younger girl and was convicted of "statuatory rape"...which oftentimes is consensual BUT if the girl is underage is still illegal. I'd hardly consider these poor kids creeps, yet they are still on the registry. I know someone who is on California's registry for that very reason

That being said, I do keep track of offenders in my own area, just in case.

This is very scary! I live in a nice neighborhood and have several around the corner. What in the world is going on. Here I have a 16 and a 12 yr old and this scares the daylights out of me. My opinion if they castarate these people we would have less sexual assualts. We are to much of a bleeding heart in this nation. They have showed stastics that these people are not going to quit (sp) doing what there doing, but if they think it's just enough to give us their name and where they live and think that just to be aware of this is going to stop these perverts I've got news for them.

Thank you for sharing this website! I have a couple of friends who were trying to find this information for our area. I intend to pass it on.

I read through all the entries for my zip code. Quite a few seemed like they could have been consenual sex with someone underage. Fourteen of the 101 were convicted of sex with persons under the age of 13. These 14 men were in their 30's and 40's. That qualifies as a creep in my book even if it was "consenual"!

That qualifies as a creep to me too, don't get me wrong! I just think it's sad when I read through and see really young guys, say 22 or younger...some even just 18 or 19 and they are on there for sex with a minor. I had an 18-year-old boyfriend when I was 16 and I just think WOW my parents could have totally screwed things for him if they had wanted to

But you're right...a 40-year-old convicted of having sex with someone under 14 is definitely in the "creep" category.
