Casey update - it's good news!
We were at the hospital all day. Three of us went in, Diane - Casey's mother, Danielle, who was also in the accident and is okay except that she cries a few times a day, and me.
The sister said that overnight Casey regained feeling in her hands and legs, she was still weak but progressing really well. They wanted to get her out of bed.
We found Casey flat on her back in bed with wet hair. The nurses had just washed it for her. Diane brushed her hair, I gave her some flowers and many hugs and then we both massagged her arms and legs with lotion. She said she was really hungry but had only had beef broth to eat - she's a vegetarian
She hadn't eaten since Friday but she's had a drip up, which was removed just before we arrived.
At 11.30am the physio arrived and asked us to go while she had her therapy. They wanted to get her out of bed and into a chair. The three of us went to the cafe and had lunch and when we came back we were surprised to find Casey in a wheelchair! When they got her up she felt giddy and a bit sick but she was fine apart from that. She even walked two steps from the lifter to the wheelchair with the help of the physio.
We were given permission to take her outside to the verandah and to the cafe. She decided she wanted some fries and OJ, said she was starving but could only eat two fries and a little juice. But it's a start and we were all happy she has her appetite back.
Anyhow, I won't go on and on, although I could
Casey will continue to have phsyio in hospital but things look really good for her. Her boyfriend came in at 4pm with a box full of gifts and little cards from the kids at Casey's preschool. Some of them were very funny and all of them so sweet. One little boy sent in a love heart made from plastic straws.
Casey asked me to bring my camera to the hospital so I could take some pics for her. She wants to send them to her preschoolers. I asked if I could post a couple and she was happy for me to show you all.
The first photo is Diane and Casey when we first arrived. The second is her just before we left. What a difference!
I want to sincerely thank everyone who sent good wishes and prayers for Casey. You can see the results for yourself.
