Unhappy I broke my pinky toe!

I have a huge prob, though. I am allergic to latex, which is also in adhesives, so I can't just tape it to my other toe. Anyone have any ideas?

My friend here is allergic to latex and adhesive. She uses Ace bandages for everything.

Good luck I hope it heals fast and your pain goes away!!!

Oh, I feel for you. I have broken my little toe a million times (did it in gymnastics.)

I am also allergic to latex- isn't it a pain (well, literlly, too!)

I never did anything special when my toe was broken. I might have taken some tylenol or something, but that was about it. Also, ice to reduce any swelling if I had time for it. I actually have a toe right now that my doc thinks I broke last year and it is still swollen and painful. She won't do anything about it, which is why I am searching for a new doc.

So, anyway, maybe try ice and elevation. If you want to bind it, you could try a thin strip of fabric. And I have no idea if there is latex in them or not, but I never have a reaction from the 3M waterproof bandages. (Aren't I awful? I mean, I am pretty allergic- not to the point of anaphyaxis, but still..and here I am using bandages without being sure about them.)

Hope it is feeling better soon!

How about if you just wrap it with something like tissue or a paper towel to the other toe and then tape the top of the wrapping with some scotch tape, it may last for a while with a tight sock over it.

Man, I am sure that is so painful. I also learned in fitness for life that the recipe for healing is R I C E

    Rest
    Ice
    Compression'
    Elevation

    Hope your better soon Brinda

    Broken toes freaking HURT!! LOL

I am sorry that it happened to you

My grandma is allergic to latex too. She says wrap the toes together with gauze and then wrap the whole thing in an ACE bandage.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it! We have a gob of ACE bandages, and wouldn't you know I can't find a single one. I did remember that I have latex free bandages, so I wrapped a couple of those around them!

No! I'm wearing sandals when necessary, because they leave my toe open, but it hurts like heck when just trying to walk.

I can sympathise - I'm just now getting over having a broken foot - are you able to walk on it?
I'm liking having time out of work, but not being able to get around isn't much fun at all
    Hope you're feeling better soon

I can walk on my foot, I kinda do a half step and walk on the other side of my foot, so my pinky doesn't touch the ground.

I broke my big toe years ago and man does it hurt. I think it's the worst pain I've ever experienced.

    Hoping your toe heals quickly.

OUCH! I hope it heals quickly Brinda. I, like Sara, broke my big toe as a kid and it's terribly painful.

I broke mine last summer and went to the ER.It had to be set back in place and they gave me this shoe type thing to wear a few days and some pain pills. He taped my little toe to the next toe and it healed up. Hurt like heck though!

    Hope it feels better soon!
