Do you have to look at the keys when you type?
I just can't type the normal way, I'm just not programed that way. I'd love to be able to type like a maniac with accuracy. I am gaining speed with my hunt & peck styling though.

Anyone else share my "problem?"~*Darlene*~

No I took typing in school. My kids are always amazed when I can look at them and be typing as well. I'm really glad I took typing in school.

I type for a living so it's second nature to me. I'm a bit slower when I've been gone on vacation or something but am able to fly along.

I type for a living too. If I stop to think about where I'm putting my fingers, it actually can slow me down.

I also took typing in school, eons ago, but I guess it just stays with you. For some strange reason though the number row never took and I usually have to look up there.

when I am using the regular letter keys no, I don't have to look but when I have to use numbers and special symbols, I have to hunt and peck for them. Even though I took typing in school, the numbers and symbols never stuck in my brain.

I took typing too in high school, lol. Just can't get my fingers to know where they need to go.

Uhm. . . MY mom was the hated typing teacher!

We were never allowed to touch a typewriter unless we used the proper fingering, etc.
Last time I took a timed test- I typed 98 words a minute with no errors. That was just over a year ago.

Me too, Darlene. Who'd have guessed it.
I'm quite a fast typist but I always look at the keys instead of at the screen.

I never took any typing classes, but I know where the keys are. I taught myself. I used to work for the newspaper as a typesetter so you had to be able to type fast.

I know pretty much where the letters are and the more common symbols, but I do look from time to time. I never took any classes and don't type for a living, but I have had a computer since I was 7.
I am going to go take a free typing test and see how I do. Last time I checked it was so-so.
ETA- 54 WPM adjusted speed. You sure can't tell by the typos I make here. Of course, usually when I have typos (skipped letters, more than anything) it is because I have a toddler on my lap and I am trying to type around her.

Yes and No! lol
Like most of the gals, if I am just typing I don't have to look at my hands, but once you start adding in numbers and symbols, yep I have to look too!
Darlene, you are a fast 'hunt & peck' typist, you sure can beat me when we are on IM!

I look at the keyboard even though I know where the keys are, if I try to type without looking it comes out wrong!
Plus I'm only a two finger typist anyway.
