Exclamation Burglarized Again...Bad Day Gone Good.

Dh woke me up yesterday morning telling me someone had broken into the garage again (same one for the 3rd time) and this time they left the roll up door open and had stolen his Ryobi Radial/Chop Saw. That thing weighs about 80 lbs (maybe more).

They carried it around the back of the garages, bent down two of our farm fence post to get it over the fence and carried it till they jumped someone elses fence and stole their wheel barrel and then cut two other neighbors fences to get it to the road and the tracks end there. They also reached up and just unscrewed our security lights over the area where they broke in and stayed far away from the recently installed back security lights so that they didn't come on.

I called the cops and made a report. Dh was so upset and almost in tears because it was his favorite tool and he was going to need it to build his workbench in the garage he is finishing. It's worth around $600.00 so no way we could replace it. The cop tried to talk me out of doing a report. He said there is no way we will get the saw back and it was a waste of time for me to do the report. I said I wanted to do it anyway. Think he was trying to get out of doing it.

He got off work early so he went to a couple of the pawn shops and described it and called some more when he got home.

About 4 hours later he got a call from SuperPawn saying no names would be given but he needed to come down their right now. We raced down there and discovered his Chop Saw sitting on the "check-in" counter where they place items that are big or heavy untill it can be taken to the back.

We went outside and called the cops and the same cop from yesterday morning showed up and he and the pawn shop guy did their paperwork.

We didn't get to take it home because it's on a police hold untill the D.A. says we can have it back. The cop said he knows the guy who pawned it and that he has dealt with him many times and he is a tweeeker (druggy). He's off duty till Sunday so Sunday he will go and interview the person who pawned the saw and make sure he is the one who stole it and not someone it was passed off to. Then the guy will be charged and arrainged.

I called one of dh's friends yesterday morning and had him come over and install 4 new door knobs on the garages including the one by the house and ds screwed boards across the windows in the one garage that we can't see from the house and adjusted the lock on the shed door so we could padlock it. We fixed the lift up door that they broke in to so that only we can open it.

So I spent the whole day yesterday investigating the burglary, getting repairs done, buying $200.00 worth of locks, another mercury light, new door knobs and security cameras and visiting with neighbors on both sides of the block.

I sure hope they catch this guy and who ever was with him and put them in jail. Atleast they know who to look for now.

Sorry to hear about this. Someone stole our weed-eater out of our shed this winter. What on earth someone would need to steal a weed-eater for I will never know. There are some really messed up people in this world! I hope you get your saw back quickly.

I hope they get the guy and then put him in a cell with even meaner guys. It's just ridiculous all that you've had to go through with these breakins.

OMG!! Damn! Trust me I feel your pain of being burglarized -- its sooo heartbreaking to think that someone can just come and take anything of yours they want.
I wonder how they even knew it was there --
TG that you're getting it back. And smart thinking on your dh's part. No thanks to that police officer. I had my Jeep broken into and he told me he didn't really see the need but did I want him to take a report. WHAT!! No idiot -- I want you to dust for prints!
Sheesh -- like I just called him to share or something?? YES take the report!

Good grief! I'm tempted to think it is someone well acquainted with you folks. Of course they may be well acquainted with your garage contents by now, too.

At least they have a name of someone to go after. And hopefully they can put them away for a good long time.

    It's rotten and I'm sorry!
