This just ticked me off!
Had the tv on today and this commercial came on for Macy's. This woman keeps going in her closet, trying things on, tossing them on the bed and trying on more.
At the end it says "If it's not new, it's not in fashion"!
That just rubbed me the wrong way!!!!

LOL! That's right! Of course, I couldn't get my big toe into the stuff she was trying on and tossing out! LOL!

I hate commercials like that, too! I hate commercials period anymore. My little girls keep coming out telling me how much I need to get the chocolate factory, because we can cover stuff in chocolate.
What can I say, they're getting to that age! I've seriously thought of limiting them to videos only.

It is so horrible that commericals are supposed to make us want to spend money isn't it? The bad thing for them is it totally turned you off! That means it didn't work!

I really hate that commercial too. Good thing we don't have a Macy's here or I'd be boycotting it for sure!

This is exactly why we gave up television.

I saw that ad as well and it really made me sad!
Are stores that desperate to get you to buy??? Awful!
I never even shop at department stores.......I am surprised they still can operate and make money. I also try to never ever go near the mall....I say all this after working in management AT a department store for many years!

We moved out to the country last year and there is no broadcast reception or cable here and we decided that our lives would be much better without television so we didn't get a satellite dish. You know we do not miss it at all!! We get videos from Netflix and that is just enough. We have had people tell us how peaceful and happy our home is and I think it is because we don't have a television blaring at us. And most of all, we don't have to put up with the horrid commercials!!

I'm with Florence - we don't even have a TV set, so we don't watch anything. Once in a while DH will download Simpsons or Whose Line is it Anyway (we have DSL) and we'll watch something on the computer, but I sure don't miss the commercials. I really hate the way they discourage you to be constantly out and spending.
Of course, my MIL gave me a Filene's GC (its a department store) for my birthday yesterday, and told me to get over there because they were having a one day sale, but that's another story... I have been trying to stick with the rule that for every piece of clothing I add to my wardobe I will declutter another. I'm doing ok, through not perfect, with it.Loving wife to DH (8/31/03) and Mommy to Owen Alexander (9/20/06)

I so wish we didn't have tv! I hate the commercials, they way DH plops his behind down and is mesmerized by the ever increasing violence etc. I hate for my children to be exposed to that crud! I try and get them in the bedroom with me to read etc.Originally posted by Florence

I have seen it. I thought at first she was getting ready for a date or something. Then when they said if it wasn't new.... I just rolled my eyes. Once upon a time (highschool - early 20's) I might have agreed. Now I know better
