My excitement yesterday!
Our next door neighbor had a fire going yesterday. This is a common occurance for him, he usually burns his garbage. Only thing is this one got out of control and was shooting flames at least 20 feet in the air and the trees! Well guess he lit it and LEFT!!!
The fire department came and put it out. Then a state trooper came down to talk to me.
Little background, this neighbor is from Romania and moved in a not so nice single wide trailer about 6 months after we moved in here 17 years ago. (And he now has 4 ratty trailers up there, 1 nice 5th wheel trailer and about 20 junky cars!) He never put in a well or a septic. But has had an outhouse all these years. Some of you may remember when I was going through chemo we had to put in a water system plus bacteria killer light thing because we had "fecal material" in our water? I couldn't even shower in our water.
So the trooper asked me what was in that storage building that caught on fire. I'm like, I didn't know he had a storage building up there. Then I told him that is where the guys outhouse is, he said his WHAT??? I told him the details and he wrote it all down. About an hour later, the fire inspector comes down to talk to me and says have you had problems with his sewage leaking into your water? So I told him all about chemo and not being able to use our water etc.... Oh and when this happened during chemo, we called the health dept and they said unless we could prove it, they couldn't do a thing about it. So the fire inspector is coming back today with a health dept official and he said it looks like they are going to be condeming the property!
So that was my excitement yesterday.
Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Wow. What a day. I can't believe his waste was leaking into your water. That's just not right.
I also can't believe he left a fire unattended like that.
I think 17 yrs of taking his crap (literally) is enough. If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. Thanks ladies. I had my doors open until about 9 last night and he still hadn't come home. But this morning I can hear him up there talking and laughing. Too bad for him, cuz I sure hope I'm gonna have the last laugh!
This is off topic but this really ticks me off. He came over from Romania more than 20 years ago and at first lived in NewYork City. Then they purchased the property next to us like I said about 6 mos after we moved in.
Because he is an immigrant, he was able to go to one of our best universities around here free of charge ( SUNY B Darlene) Then he takes his professorship and gets a job in Prague at the university there!
He pays very minimal land taxes, gets schooling for free, gets government help and they would only charge hime 1% interest if he purchased a car! Makes me mad that hard working American citizens can't go to the school of thier choice like Darlene's son ( he wanted to go to the same university that this guy went to for free). And on top of that, because he is an immigrant the government and county look the other way on these property issues! Believe me we have complained many many times especially to the health dept and they have done absolutely NOTHING!! I told the fire marshal that yesterday and he assured me that know that he knows about it, this problem WILL be followed up on by him and he will make the health department follow up too.
I sure hope he is good to his word, he hasn't come by yet today but then again the day is still young.

I sure hope they stick to their word and come out to inspect the place. It would be great if they condemmed it.

Not a soul showed up today!
And to top it off, he was up there building what I *think* is a new outhouse all day!
If no one comes in the next day or so, I'm calling that fire marshal to find out what is going on.~~ Dee ~~
