Smile Hi I am a new to the site

I am sitting at work, probably should be working but can't get motivated to. I am a single mom I have a 13 year old autistic son and an 8 year old son. School ends in about 3 weeks here and as usual I am going through the "what will I do with my kids for the summer?" panic. This year I have the added element of the special needs daycare my son Corey has been going to for 6 years is closing on May 30th for good. This opens a whole new can of worms. I find myself thinking about my boys, my front yard that has more weeds than grass, the hole in Corey's room that I patched but still needs to be sanded and painted, the funny noise my passenger front wheel keeps making everytime I turn right, my buddy/helper at work's inpending move and how I am going to manage both offices by myself this summer, my bathroom floor (I have wanted to tile it since I moved in 4 years ago but I am terrifed of messing it up. I guess I better stop there.......... no wonder I am not working.

I hope you won't regret that offer! My biggest question/concern right now is high school. My son will be going to high school next year. He is in an inclusionary classroom so he will be going to school with, riding the bus with typical teenagers. While I am of course excited for him I am also terrifed. How did you handle that transition with your 17 year old?

Hi and welcome to the village!

I'm not CJ (homesteadmamma) but how about finding a responsible teenager in your neighborhood to "escort" your son? I did this for a little girl next door when I was in high school (we had a combined junior/senior high school and she was her mom's baby so she worried about her) I didn't sit with her on the bus, but close by, walked her to and from home to the bus stop and just generally watched out for her and didn't let anyone bother her. Just a thought..........
