Back from DC!
I cannot even describe to you how wonderful my students were. 266 13 and 14 year olds from a district where we have the richest of the rich and the poorest of the poor. This was the first (and last) time many of these students have/will ever left home. They were perfect. An hour and a half in Arlington Cemetary and not one of my students made a sound. They were polite to the bus drivers. If we said be there at 1:00, they were there at 12:55. They didn't complain at all, even though the tour company dropped the ball big time and had us staying at a Days Inn, aka, the Roach Motel. (Seriously, two of our rooms had to swtich because there were cockroaches in their rooms.) Also, no hot water for their showers.
It was a fabulous trip. We bonded with the kids, they bonded with each other and it was just great. I'm exhausted, but it's a fabulous exhausted. My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

I was thinking about you yesterday and wondering if you'd survived the trip. Glad to hear it went so well! I'm sure those kids made great memories that will last a lifetime.

I'm so glad you had a wonderful trip Amy. Did you by any chance visit the Rayburn (Congressional office) Building? That's where my ds works. I loved Arlington Cemetary as well. We plan to spend a day there on our next trip to see ds and ddil.

I'm so glad the trip turned out so well for everyone. Sounds like lots of good memories were made on this trip. You're so lucky to have been a part of it.
