Default Thank goodness for the EF!

I went online this morning to see how much DH's check was because it is direct deposited into our checking account. Well, I was shocked to say the least. I called him at work to see if that was right. He said he would get his check stub to check it out.

He was shorted around $400 on his check. More bad news....they will not be sending a check to correct the situation. What the company does is add it to his next pay check which is in 2 weeks. (Gets paid bi-weekly.)

So, I guess I will only pay the neccessities that need to be paid this paycheck, get groceries, and fill up the cars. I will play catch-up the next pay period, which I hate doing.

Anyway, I am glad we have an EF fund. (THANK YOU SHELL for the monthly reminder!) So at least we have money to fall back on if we have to use it. I think this would classify as an emergeny.

    Yikes!
Yes, thank goodness for that emergency fund. That's one good reason it is there -- and you are right that this qualifies as an emergency.

That is the pits that they won't cut him an additional check -- I can imagine my employer would probably do the same "make it up next time" thing.

That's just not right that they don't have to fix it immediately. I mean, it's not like everyone can afford to be shorted so much.

This is another reminder to me as to why I need to start this immediately.

This happened to me once, I had to really growl to get them to cut me a check.
I told them If they didn't cut me a check that I expected them to pay any late fees that I incurred due to the shortage. I also told them that I wanted to to know how I needed to expense those fees.....
They cut a check and brought it to me.
They don't let us borrow against next weeks work, so why should they get to draw interest on our last weeks wages!!

At my last job I was summer help (may-august) and come august they asked me to stay on. We got paid twice a month, the 1st and the 15th. Well come the 15th of aug - opps they thought I quit (don't know what HR was thinking, I was at work and turned in a timesheet) and didn't pay me. I had to wait till Sept 1st to get paid!! Thank goodness I still lived at home at the time and my dad lent me money to cover expenses, but still!! I had college classes to pay for. . .

WTG Bridge! I doubt this company will do the same. They do the payroll out of Tenn. and we live in Texas. That has always been there policy though. This isn't the first time this has happened, but this is the most they ever messed up!
