Default Speaking of Murphy moving in....

I'm pretty sure Murphy has vacated everyone else's houses, because he is now residing in mine.

    In the past week:
    1) I got a letter from the hospital telling me I was NOT getting the market adjustment raise we were told we were getting.
    2) I bought myself an air conditioner with the money I made from being on-call this weekend. DH dropped it out the window.
    3) My DD cut her finger on the A/C unit before DH dropped it and it wouldn't stop bleeding for 15 minutes. Some clothes were ruined in the process.
    4) The plumber just left. Yesterday morning we discovered a brand new leak in the plumbing right above the main shut-off.
    5) DH's car died. It needs an engine re-build, which will cost $2000 (which we do NOT have) and would only be guaranteed for 2 months.
    6) My parents had promised us a car, but they sold it two weeks ago when thy found out it needed about $2000 worth of work. (Long story, and my Dad's half-sister really SUCKS!!!)
    7) Did I mention the leak in the pool, ad even worse, that nobody will even come look at it because we live "too far away?"

Somebody please convince me it could be worse......

I'm so sorry. That sure is enough sucky things to have going on at once.

It must be the week of leaks. We had one in the basement and also a clogged sink. I stuck rice down the garbage disposal. Water was falling into the laundry room like rain from the dishwasher overflowing.. lol

Hoping things get better soon and hope your daughter is ok.

Is the ac totally broken now?

No, Sara, the AC isn't totally broken, but I had decided to take it back because it won't work in the window I need to put it in. Since I can't take it back, it is now cooling off the hallway. (And a little of the cool air is seeping into the family room where I intended to put it.)

I'm sorry all this is happening. Would your a/c be covered on your home insurance? If that happened in our home, our insurance would cover it. It's worth checking.

I hope things start looking up soon.

Kimberly, I hope things start to improve soon!

When ever I break anything/anything "Murphy like" happens, after the "first"thing that happens, I always break two match sticks, so that the "all these things comes in threes" are sorted as I have completed the "Trilogy" myself with a couple of breaks and a few little words to that effect........... and touching wood as I write this........... Let's just say that I am now not the only person who does this in my family, so does it work? what's a Match stick or two even if we are being frugal

Well, you already knew I was a mad eccentric English woman right!

    Hope your week improves.......

Believe me I know where you're coming from. Maybe I have a cousin of Mr. Murphy's visiting me! Maybe Murphy, Jr. is visiting me. I hope things will get better for you!

So sorry for the headaches and hassles, Kimberly. It can ALWAYS be worse, but I know it doesn't feel like it while you are enduring the problems. You definitely have more than your share right now!

I maintain that cars can be the worst headache of all -- we depend so much on them for our day to day living. To spend $2000 on the car repair (or not) is a huge dilemma -- maybe you can find a used car somewhere else (besides your folks) that the $2000 could go towards? Or is your husband's car new enough and worth spending $2000 on to get back up and running? (I realize you don't have the $2000 --- just figuring there might be a way to get it with a loan or whatever.)

Rhonda had a good idea to check with your homeowners insurance about the a/c -- I wouldn't have thought of that.

I hope things settle down at your place and that MURPHY goes away! Hang in there!

Sorry that Murphy's currently a houseguest of yours. One thing I try and do when everything just seems to be going wrong is to think of 5 things that I'm grateful for (loving husband, roof over my head, etc.) and it helps kind of keep it in perspective sometimes.

Meanwhile, here's sending a prayer your way that he leaves soon!
