Question Need your opinion....what would you do?

Chris' baseball team is going to the state tournament this weekend, but we have to travel out of town and stay in a hotel.

    This is my delima.
The team is staying at a hotel that is higher priced and doesn't have a breakfast bar. I found a hotel in that area that we participate in the rewards program with. It does offer the breakfast bar. It also offers a cheaper room rate.

Should we stay where other parents chose to stay for the team? Or would it be wrong to stay in a different place?

If we stay in the same hotel with the team, we would also have to purchase breakfast each morning. (We should be there at least 2 nights...maybe 3.) If we stay at the hotel with the rewards program, I would be earning reward points, plus eating breakfast for free.

Am I being too frugal?? What would you choose to do?

I need to let them know sometime today what I have decided.

Does your son get to stay with you or will he be staying at the other hotel with the team? If he has to stay with the team I would ask him if its okey if you stay at the other hotel. If it's fine with Chris that you stay they, I say go for it and stay at the one that gives you the rewards points and free breakfast.

Chris will be staying with us. Each child will be staying with their parent.

I just didn't want to offend anyone.

Since the room will be used for mostly sleeping I say stay at the less expensive hotel with the free breakfast.

Just to add, if I were a parent and I were going, I would think you were smart for picking the better deal on a room

Besides, Joe gets a discount thru his company at one particular hotel and if we were in your shoes we wouldn't stay with the rest of the team either if that one was avaliable.

I too would stay in the hotel that has the greater rate and the breakfast too.

As to offending people, well..... I would have to say if they get offended because of your staying at a different hotel, hmmmm. Need I say more.

Thanks ladies for your opinions. I thought the same thing CJ, but didn't want to voice it to them.

I agree with the other ladies, Michelle. I'd stay where I got a better rate. Chris will be with the team during the day, the room is just for sleeping and relaxing.

Maybe some other parent is doing this too? You never know. If I heard about it I would not be offended at you but maybe the ones who made the descision on the more expensive hotel, and next year you can book them for me...

Yes indeed, I'd go for the cheaper hotel/better deal. It could be that there is another family that wishes they could do the same thing but isn't as brave as you? I wouldn't worry about offending anyone at all.....

Thank you ladies. I guess that confirms it! I am staying at the better rate/free breakfast hotel. DH told me to do whatever I thought was best. Of course being the frugal person I am, I did. Our room is booked and I emailed the person who set up the other rooms to let them know. She said she understood. I will be seeing her tonight at practice.

I knew my frugal sisters would come through for me and convince me it was ok.
