Thinking of getting a tattoo
I've been toying with the idea for about 8 years. I finally found a tattooist I trust and who does an awesome job. Of course, it would be in a discreet place. Does anyone else here have a tattoo? What should I be prepared for?

I have three tattoo's. It really doesn't hurt all that bad, it is more the sound that is irritating. It will scab over for a couple olf days afterwards, the artist would give you some balm to put on. If he doesn't, A & D ointment will be the next best thing! If you have any more questions, feel free to pm me.

I have 3 tattoos as well. I told myself thats enough but I keep seeing these feet tats.....
Its not all that painful. Just remember this -- no one would have more than 1 if they were that awful. Just be sure to take good care of it and keep it out of the sun. I usually get mine in the winter. Oh and be sure its something you REALLY want. You'll have it for a very long time after all! So what are ya getting??

I have one tattoo. It was my 24th bday present to myself

It doesn't really hurt, mine is on my ankle and it felt like she (the tattoo artis) was pulling out hairs. Like one of those cheap shavers with the spring that was supposed to pull out the hairs lol.
Afterward it stung a little like a sunburn, but it didn't hurt to touch it or bump it like a sunburn. IMO the worst part was after it scabbed, the itching. OMG and not being able to scratch was the worst!
I'm still thinking about tat #2. I know I want one, but I don't know where or what yet.

I have one. Mine is also on my ankle. It isn't anything big, just two small hearts linked together.
It didn't really hurt. The noise bothered me more than the sticking. The black outline isn't bad at all. I think the coloring is worse, but nothing unbearable. I always said it felt like bee stings. I guess everyone describes it different. I didn't have any problems afterwards. I just followed the advice of the tattoo artist.
It seems like I have had it forever. I want a butterfly on the other ankle.~*Michelle*~

I have one on my lower back that I just got last year while dh was in Iraq. Sorry to say it hurt like h*ll. I think it all depends on the person and where you get it as to what it feels like. I had friends that got tats in the same area, and they did not have as much pain as I did. I agree with the getting something that you really like. I spent about 3 months looking around for a tat. Once I found the one I liked, I never found another that I liked as much. So, I knew that was the one I wanted. Good luck with yours.

I have one on my toe. I love it but would not recomend getting one on your foot as some of it has come off. I plan on having it redone soon. I'd love to get another but Dh hates the one I have as it is.

I have one. DS's name surrounded by morning glories. It is on my right outer calf, i want to expand on it and add DD and DS2. i think that the meatier the spot the less it'll hurt. Your own threshold for pain matters too. It felt like a weird sunburn afterwards. but when being done it felt like a cat scratching.

I have one, its on my belly.... its of a skelton key shaped like a heart. Yes, you all can imagine how BIG it got when I was preggers....lol....
I had it done and got a belly button ring at the same time about 9 year ago. My belly ring is since gone.... it didn't hurt at all, just felt like a little pinch.

I don't have one, but would love to get one as well. The problem is I can't figure out what I want that I would love for the rest of my life!

I know that I want one on my right ankle. I have been thinking about it for 5 years and STILL haven't come up with what I want. I figure if I'm going to be stuck with it forever, it might as well be something I like!
Seriously, I am thinking of getting my belly-button pierced. Or the upper part of my ear (although I hear that this hurts!)Loving wife to DH (8/31/03) and Mommy to Owen Alexander (9/20/06)

I had a second hole done in my ear just a tad up from the originals and it hurt like crazy and took forever to heal. I can't imagine oe badly it would hurt at the top of the ear.Originally posted by Telephus44

I have the top of my ear done and it didn't hurt too bad. It just stung a little. It healed quickly. I have had it for almost 6 years. I also had my belly button done, but finally took it out last year. I had it for almost 5 years. It didn't hurt when they did it, but it did hurt for about a week or two after that. I couldn't sleep on it or put anything on it until it healed.Originally posted by Telephus44
