I'm BAAAAACK!
When my dog Dozer died last November I couldn't talk much, just needed to withdraw, couldn't bring myself to talk online. I threw myself into my offline life, and taught 2 different Bible studies (Romans in one, 1 Corinthians in another) and a Sunday school class on Boundaries by Cloud and Townsend.
It was a good time, setting a new pattern for my days. Helped me over the ache of the loss of a dear pet.
In January we went to Cuba with fil who at 87 was nearly too old to travel (travel health insurance gets prohibitive). Good time there, very poor country but lovely people.
Got home, finally accepting that my son was intent on marrying his girlfriend who had been in hospital for almost 2 years at that point. They were convinced that if she could get better enough to come home, that they could marry and make a go of it.
She and my son did make a wonderful couple but her fight for life took a turn for the worse.
In March she was given the news that she had only a few more weeks to live. This was a shock as she had been holding her own and improving some.
The dr's unfortunately were right, and she slipped away one day after a great weekend surrounded by family, and spending a lot of time with my son.
Right after the service to celebrate her life, I got into getting it together here at home to do the double grad.
Both our kids were graduating their BSc. degrees at the same time at the local university.
On June 9th they graduated with most of our family present. (my side of the family is rather "ahem" DIVERSE shall we say) and that had me quaking in my boots. Opposite ends of the philosophical, political and religious spectrums and an inclination to drinking and fighting on the part of some.
but we got thru that fine,
and my son's girlfriends parents were able to come up which was wonderful. Sadly she had tried to live even just long enough to see him graduate but she didn't make it, so it was good to have her parents there.
And that has been my life since I was last on the boards. Bit busy in spots. Some very sad times, and some very good times as life often is.
Glad to be back, but I'm likely not up to being on a whole lot, so I'll drop in and chat about gardening or cleaning or cooking or homeschooling etc (all my usual stuff) \
but I'm teaching 2 courses in the fall, and as I did this year, I'm writing it myself, not doing a canned course which is way more fun, but takes way more work.
Good to see you all again

Welcome back! We have missed you.
What a hectic year it's been for you. Sadness and joy mixed -- and both intense.
One of these days, when you feel up to it, remember to post your homeschooling strategy.
It inspired me when I read it years ago on FM's...
