Good News!
Dh has just retired (Thursday is his final day) from the Army after nearly 24yrs. He has 3 months of leave saved up, so he'll still draw an Army paycheck until the end of September. After that he will draw a retirement check.
We were hoping he would have a job before that time was up so he could basically draw two paychecks for a few months. We were also hoping for him to find a job in this state so that we didn't have to be far from family (not to mention we are tired of moving the 4 kids, 2-soon to be 3 cats, 2 dogs, & 5 fish across country).
Well, that wish came true. This morning he was offered a job an hour from where we are now and for more than what we had hoped
This means he can commute for a while and we can take our time selling this house and finding a new one, we will still be near his family and my family, and we get to stay in NY
Plus dh is excited to go to work again. I haven't seen him excited about his job (the army sucks sometimes) in a long time. I'm so happy for him.

That's great news.
Congratulations on his retirement and thanks for his service to the country.
So when he retires is he going to walk around saluting you out of habit?
What part of NY will you be moving to?~*Darlene*~

That's great news! I'm very excited for you. I've heard that the transition from armed forces to civilian life can be rough on some. Here's hoping for a smooth ride for you guys

Great!
I was wondering where you would be moving to, also. You won't be all that far from Darlene and I. DH is actually an SU alumnus, and I took some classes there. Hope you like the area!
Please congratulate you husband for me and tell him thanks!
